Stomping and a slammed door could be heard down the hallway on the second floor of the Fairy Tail guildhall. No one was aware of the heated argument between the two Dreyars about a sensitive topic and in the end, the teen lighting mage was fed up with his grandfather's behavior and decisions and needed some time for himself.

Quickly turning the corner, he accidentally bumped shoulders with one of his guildmates but didn't bother to see who it was or apologize. He was unmindful that it was the pink-haired older Dragneel girl, just wanting to leave and be alone. On the other hand, the Dragneel girl rubbed her shoulder, pushed her bangs back, and watched as her friend stomped out of the guildhall, frustration in his eyes.

She glanced back at Gramps' office and then towards the exit of the guildhall, remembering the conversation the two Dreyars had with one another. She didn't mean to eavesdrop, she just happened to have super hearing thanks to the Dragon Slayer magic she was bestowed. Nyx turned around and returned to the main hall to hang out with her friends, but settling down with them, she watched her brother start another fight with Gray, and the other children around her age chuckled at their nonsense. She joined their laughter but her mind wandered back to a certain teen mage, left out and missing all the fun.

At the outskirts of Magnolia, the lighting teen trekked in the forest surrounding Magnolia and started to kick a random nearby tree to let off some steam, after his terrible conversation with his grandfather. "Damn, old man. How could he?" He began to put forth his magic onto his kicks, destroying the tree with each kick against it. "How could he kick my dad out of Fairy Tail?!" With one last kick, he incinerated the tree with his lighting magic, as it was burned to a crisp. "Just wait old man, someday I'll surpass and then you'll have to live in my shadow," He made that vow, determined to overshadow his grandfather and become a far better wizard than anyone in the guild. His thoughts are interrupted by the rustling of bushes nearby and looks at the source of them. "Who's there? I'm in a pretty foul mood, so you better come out now, or you'll get a taste of my lighting, and trust me, I won't be merciful to whoever it is," The rustling of the bushes stopped, and the culprit behind the noise revealed themselves to be the person he bumped into earlier. Nyx Dragneel. "Oh. It's you," He remembered the girl he saved a few months back. "What do you want?"
