After dinner, Izuku watched as Aizawa-san got ready for patrol.
He knew that Eraserhead worked late but he never really thought about the process it took to get ready and who he might have been leaving at home. With a natural sort of efficiency, the two men worked and moved around each other. Aizawa-san went over any reports about the recent activity or things another underground hero he was working with wanted to let him know about it. Meanwhile, Yamada-san prepared a small snack bag and brought out the weapon and goggles Eraserhead used.
"Hey, did you make any headway about the robbery at that jewelry store?" Yamada-san asked.
Not looking up from his computer Aizawa-san responded, "We were looking to see if it was actually an inside job with how the cameras had been disabled at just the moment when the robbers got in."
A pensive looked appeared on Yamada-san's face. "What security company did the store use?"
"QP Security Systems."
"Oh, that company's been under some fire with installing additional cameras without permission and using it to gain access to a couple of business servers. They're still checking on a lot of locations so there might actually be some security footage if they hadn't reached that jewelry store yet."
Izuku watched as Aizawa-san paused and looked at his husband for a moment. Yamada-san was oblivious to the look. From what Izuku could tell the look was one of respect but more familiar than that, it felt private and Izuku quickly looked away.
Eventually, Aizawa-san stopped looking and grabbed his things, Yamada-san following him to the door. Izuku heard them say a quick 'Goodbye, Love you' before he heard the door close and Yamada-san came back.
"Alright Izu-"
The sound of the door opening cut him off and Izuku saw Aizawa-san at the door looking at him. He seemed to pause for a moment before speaking. "Good night Izuku."
Izuku looked back. "Night sensei."
"It's just Aizawa kid," and then the door was closed and locked again. Izuku turned to look back at Yamada-san.
"Alright Izuku," the man said. "Want to practice some sign language?"
_____________
For a moment, Shouta had forgotten that Izuku had been there. Though not in a way that you forgot someone was there at all. The teen was on the couch with two cats and hadn't made a sound as he had gotten ready. Instead, Izuku seemed to just watch as he gathered his things and talked to Hizashi about a case. Shouta had noted that it didn't feel as if there was an unwelcome presence in his home. It had felt normal in a sense, but it was when he had been thinking of contacting the detective on the robbery case in the hallway that he remembered that he had forgotten to say goodbye to Izuku.
Izuku was still being stubborn about not calling him just 'Aizawa' as Shouta had said. He was sure that Hizashi would tease him about it later. But for now, he'd simply remind Izuku that he didn't need to be so formal with them without pushing too much.
With that, Eraserhead began his patrol.
___The night had gone well.
There had been a car thief, two attempted muggings, and a lost man looking for the bus station.
Overall, nothing too concerning and the detective he called had been pleasantly surprised by the information. Even promising to thank Present Mic should he run into him again.
Eraserhead could feel the strain in his muscles as the end of patrol time neared and he began to make his way back closer to home. Of course, all the while still scanning the rooftops for any possible last-minute interventions he needed to do. During one of these scans after jumping onto another roof, he caught a glimpse of a familiar wisp-looking man right as he blinked. Still, he managed to catch the sight of a warp gate closing.
