It was near midnight when they finally returned home to find the house completely empty. The quietness felt heavier than usual, almost like the house was holding its breath, waiting for something. Na-ra's throat felt dry, so she headed to the kitchen, her steps light and careful against the wooden floor, and grabbed a glass of water. She chugged it down, feeling Taehyung's presence right beside her, his eyes watching her with that familiar softness.
Suddenly, her stomach growled, breaking the silence, loud and unapologetic. Taehyung chuckled, a low, amused sound that made Na-ra's cheeks flush a little pink. She pressed a hand to her stomach, trying to stifle her embarrassment, and whispered, “Y-You didn’t hear that…”
Taehyung’s grin widened, leaning a little closer, “Oh, I definitely heard that.”
Rolling her eyes playfully, she moved to the fridge, careful not to make too much noise, and found a note stuck to it. She read it quickly, then a smile of pure joy spread across her face. “They’re gone!” she whispered excitedly, turning to Taehyung. “They went to my grandmother’s place… They’ll be out for two days!”
Taehyung chuckled at her sudden burst of happiness, the sound warm and infectious. “You seem… pretty happy about that,” he teased.
Na-ra grinned, nodding. “Of course! It means… I get to spend more time with you. No hiding, no whispers.” She giggled, a little shy but clearly overjoyed by the rare freedom.
Feeling a little giddy, she decided to cook some ramen. As she set the pot on the stove and waited for the water to boil, a thought hit her. She looked at Taehyung, eyes curious. “Do you ever… get hungry? Or feel like eating?”
Taehyung shook his head, a soft smile on his lips. “Not really. At least, not when I’m here… in your world. It’s like… I don’t need it.”
Na-ra nodded, stirring the noodles, a thoughtful look on her face. “That must be weird… never needing to eat. Never craving anything,” she murmured, a little frown forming.
Taehyung leaned closer, his voice soft, “Maybe, but… I do crave one thing,” his tone dropped, teasing and warm.
Na-ra blinked up at him, “Oh? And what’s that?”
He gave her a playful smirk, “You, kitten. Always you.”
Her heart skipped a beat at his words, and she turned her attention back to the pot, pretending to focus on the ramen, trying to hide the blush spreading across her cheeks. Taehyung chuckled again, his laughter filling the quiet kitchen with warmth as they settled into the simple joy of being together.
