 Chapter 9 : Caught red-cheeked

"I'm surprised you can watch me intently like that when you can't even listen to simple instructions properly."

Zephyr stopped swinging his sword, his steel blue eyes meeting with a pair of jade eyes.

Priel sighed, raising his hands up in a mocking surrender, "I was just very captivated, your highness."

"By me?" Zephyr...teased?

Priel swore he saw a small smirk forming on his lips.

"By the sword." Priel said, almost half-lying, to Zephyr and to himself.

He stood there for a while, taking in the sight and feeling the breeze against his skin. After a few moments of silence, he spoke up again.

"So, what do you want to do in the yard? Play ball, have a tea party, or maybe have a picnic? How 'bout you order me to take a nap in the grass?"

Priel said sarcastically, his tone dripping with sass.

"Sword practice. It's a common thing for Griendia." Zephyr replied.

Priel's eyes lit up at the mention of sword art. He perked up, his interest piqued.

"Really? That sounds interesting. Can I participate? I'm quite skilled with a sword myself."

He said with a hint of confidence, his chest puffed out proudly. He seemed to forget for a moment that he's just your prisoner and started to show some enthusiasm for the activity.

"Very well..do you want to spar?" Zephyr asked.

Priel couldn't hide his excitement as Zephyr suggested a sparring match. He smirked, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt.

"A sparring match? I'm all in. But don't expect me to go easy on you just because you're a royal."

He warned confidently, his mind already running through different techniques and moves in his head.

"Fine by me." Zephyr threw a spare sword at Priel.

Priel caught the sword without difficulty, gripping it with practiced skill. He grinned, his eyes gleaming with determination.

"Alright, let's see what you got."

He said before launching into an immediate attack, aiming a quick slash at Zephyr's chest.

Zephyr put one hand behind his back as he immeadietly blocked it with his sword, his movements filled with elegant grace.

Priel's attack was swiftly blocked, but he wasn't deterred. He stepped back and assessed Zephyr's form, looking for any weaknesses or openings. He smirked as he spotted a slight opening in Zephyr's stance.

"Not bad. But you're a bit too open here."

He said, before launching into another attack, aiming for his open side.

Zephyr moved his sword around gracefully with every slash of Priel's sword, blocking all of his pitiful attacks.

Priel continued showering attacks at him, testing and poking at his defenses for any signs of weakness. But Zephyr's skill in blocking and countering his attacks were impressive. Priel huffed in slight annoyance, not used to being blocked so easily, but he continued relentless attacks regardless.

As the match went on, Priel's attacks grew more intense and aggressive, his frustration slowly building up. He continued to search for an opening, hoping to land a hit on Zephyr before tiring out.

As the fight continued, Priel's attacks slowly became more sloppy and careless, his frustration getting the better of him.

"Dammit, I can't find an opening. This is pissing me off."
