Toka, Amethyst, and Topaz spelunked through a cave and walked through the tunnel's dark, wet, damp recesses. Topaz took the lead and illuminated the path forward with her scroll. Amethyst and Toka followed her lead while Amethyst checked his scroll for the map.
"Are we there yet?" Toka slumps slightly, not asleep but still visibly tired.
Topaz lightly glared at the orange boy. "No, not yet," she coldly said.
Toka goes to Amethyst, peeking a bit at his scroll. Amethyst turns to his side. "Is that necessary, Toka?"
"What! Between you two, I trust you the most!" Toka shrugged as Topaz gave him another nasty look. "Besides, what's her deal?" He whispered, pointing at Topaz.
"Topaz is," Amethyst pauses. "She's..." Amethyst hesitates at his comment. Out of Joan, Jay, Alexa, and even him, Topaz is...unique. Toka looked back ahead.
The three continued walking, but then...
BOOM!
A loud cave-in brought the three down to knees with Amethyst stabbing his rake into the ground to keep all of them grounded. Debris falls as the cave's rocks collide, sealing off the way back. It was strong enough to push the cave's creatures away. Amethyst, Topaz, and Toka held on yet the rubble quickly swept up Toka.
"Whoa!"
"Toka!" Amethyst reached his hand among the rubble.
"Damn it!"
Topaz sighed, clearly annoyed. "See? Told you."
Before Topaz could speak, Amethyst frantically rushed to yank Toka out. He dug his hand into the swarm of rocks and debris for any sign of him. Amethyst struggled to keep his ground but saw Topaz using a rope, tying it to the rake in one hand and tying herself to it in the other.
"I thought you said he was a liability," Amethyst shouted.
"He may be," Topaz said, "but the last thing I want more than an idiot is a dead idiot.."
Topaz dug through the rubble and grabbed Toka's foot. "On the count of three, pull!"
Amethyst grabbed Toka's other foot. "Ok."
"One. Two. Three."
The two pulled and pulled at Toka but nothing was working. They were pulling with all their might when Toka tried to shout, his words muffled from being stuck in the rubble.
"What is he saying?!" Topaz yelled.
"Topaz!"
Topaz turned. "What-"
Amethyst was gone. The cave-in stopped.
Topaz looked around. "Amethyst!" she shouted. "Amethyst!"
Her cries intensified more and more, almost pleading. She tried to run, but a wall of bugs blocked her path. Topaz looked in shock as the black, white, and red creatures crawled towards her. She tried to escape from the impending swarm, ripping and tearing the rope to no avail. Topaz immediately took off her helmet, smashing it to the rake.
"Finally."
She grabbed the rake and stood up but the swarm grew louder before swallowing Topaz in a loud and shapeless roar.
She hit her foot on the ground, erupting a small rock dome around her. But the swarm slowly nibbled at the shield.
"Come on!"
Topaz tried to stand her ground, but she lost control. The swarm broke in and swallowed her in another roar.
"AH!"
