"WHY WOULD THEY GET BACK TOGE-"

DEENA ENDED DRIVING TO THE HOSPITAL LITERALLY, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as her mind raced. The quiet hum of the engine seemed deafening in the tense silence between them. When they finally arrived, the group stepped out into the cold night air, the chill sinking into their bones. As they approached the hospital doors, the sterile smell hit them immediately, a sharp contrast to the suffocating tension that still lingered from the events of the night. The hospital itself felt eerie—too quiet, the kind of silence that only made everything feel more unsettling.

Inside, the fluorescent lights flickered slightly overhead, casting a pale, ghostly glow on the sterile white walls. The reception area was practically empty, save for a bored-looking receptionist who was slouched back in her chair, idly filing her nails. She didn't even glance up as the five teenagers entered, clearly indifferent to their presence.

Deena stepped up to the desk, her jaw clenched in frustration. She slammed her hand on the small bell sitting on the counter, the sharp ding cutting through the silence. The receptionist sighed heavily, rolling her eyes as if this were the most annoying thing to happen to her all night. With an exaggerated movement, she grabbed a clipboard and dropped it onto the desk with a thud.

"Fill these out and take a seat," she said flatly, not even bothering to look them in the eye.

Deena pushed the clipboard back toward her, her voice curt. "No, I'm just visiting."

The receptionist, still unbothered, gave a long, drawn-out sigh before replying, "Visiting hours end at nine."

Kate, ever the one to keep her cool in tense situations, cleared her throat and stepped forward, leaning on the counter with an air of confidence. "Tell Nurse Beddy she has a patient," she said, her tone casual but firm, as if she knew exactly how to get what she wanted.

The receptionist shot her an annoyed glance but didn't argue. Just as the tension built, a nurse appeared from the back, wearing pink scrubs and a nametag where the "B" had been scribbled over what originally said "Eddy."

"Beddy," Kate greeted him with a smirk, her voice teasing but familiar. "Long time, how've you been?"

Beddy crossed his arms, looking over the group with a bemused expression before locking eyes with Simon. "Still toting around with this moron?" he asked dryly, his eyes flicking between them with mild amusement.

"She can't quit me, Beddy," Simon said with a grin, throwing his hands out dramatically. "I'm too pretty."

Daisy chuckled at Simon's response, giving him a playful pat on the back. Beddy only scoffed in response, her expression softening just a bit.
