Luwin
I woke up the next morning nestled in Arabella's arms, her warmth enveloping me like a cozy blanket. The sun's soft rays filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. I felt remarkably calm and content, a stark contrast to the sickness that had plagued me for days. The agony had receded, leaving me with a sense of peace and comfort that was new and unfamiliar.
Arabella stirred beside me a few minutes later, her eyes fluttering open. As soon as she saw me, a radiant smile spread across her face. Without hesitation, she began to pepper my face with tender kisses. The sensation was ticklish and endearing, making me giggle uncontrollably.
"Good morning, my love," Arabella murmured between kisses, her voice husky with sleep and affection. "I'm so glad you're feeling better. I was so worried about you."
I managed to catch my breath and looked up at her, still chuckling. "Good morning. I'm glad I'm feeling better too. And I'm really glad you're here with me."
Arabella's eyes softened, and she gazed at me with a mix of adoration and relief. "You know, Luwin, I'm so thankful that I found you at that auction. You were my treasure, my precious find. I love you more than words can express."
Hearing those words from Arabella felt like a warm embrace around my heart. It was intimate and sincere, a profound declaration that made my own feelings swell. I reached up and gently cupped her face, pulling her in for a tender kiss. The contact was slow and affectionate, a quiet conversation of love between us.
We spent the morning indulging in lazy touches and soft kisses, allowing ourselves to bask in each other's presence. It felt like we had all the time in the world, savoring every second of this newfound tranquility.
Just as we were getting lost in each other, the door to our room swung open, and Alaric stepped in. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw me sitting up in bed, taller and more composed than before.
"Well, well," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "Look who's towering over me now. Luwin, you've grown overnight. Did I miss a growth spurt?"
Arabella let out a laugh, joining in on the teasing. "Looks like you're the short one now, Alaric. Isn't it quite a sight?"
I felt my cheeks flush with a mixture of embarrassment and irritation. I had expected some changes, but the way Alaric and Arabella were reacting made me feel a bit self-conscious. I rolled my eyes but couldn't suppress a smile at their playful banter.
"Ha ha, very funny," I said, trying to sound annoyed but unable to hide my amusement. "I didn't ask for a height increase, you know."
Alaric grinned, clearly enjoying the moment. "Well, you know what they say, everything's better when you're taller. At least now you can reach the top shelf without any trouble."
Arabella chuckled, squeezing my hand. "It does have its perks. And you look absolutely stunning, Luwin. Don't let Alaric's jokes get to you."
I sighed, shaking my head with a smile. "I guess I'll have to get used to it. But thanks, Arabella. And you too, Alaric. I suppose it's good to see some humor in all this."
Alaric nodded, giving me a wink. "That's the spirit. And don't worry, Luwin. We'll make sure you get used to your new height in no time."
With that, Alaric left us alone, his laughter echoing down the hall. I turned to Arabella, who was still looking at me with a soft, loving gaze.
"Thank you," I said quietly, my heart full of gratitude. "For everything. For taking care of me, for being here. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Arabella leaned in and kissed me gently, her eyes sparkling with affection. "You don't have to worry about that. We're in this together, and I'm here for you always. No matter what."
I snuggled closer to her, feeling a deep sense of contentment. The road ahead might be uncertain, but with Arabella by my side, I felt ready to face whatever challenges came our way.
As we lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, I couldn't help but smile. Despite the upheaval and change, there was one constant, Arabella's unwavering love and support. And that made everything seem just a little bit brighter.
I closed my eyes, letting the warmth of her embrace and the peaceful morning wash over me, knowing that no matter what the future held, we would face it together.
