Kiaralyne's POV

The great hall filled up with students, waiting to hear Dumbledore's announcement. The golden trio and Slytherin's princesses Kiaralyne and Juliette followed the bustling students who were all headed to the great hall. "What do you think it is this time?" Hermione asked.

"I don't know, Mione, but it probably won't be bad," Kiara said dismissively, simply knowing that whatever it was, it wouldn't be that bad. On the contrary, it could be good. "Yeah, Kiki's right. The prefects all looked really excited," Juliette added, nodding. "I know,  Kiki, Jules, but that's not my point," Hermione argued. "Alright, then, what's your point?" Kiara remarked with a small smirk. "Well...," Hermione started, trailing off with a loss for words, having no actual point that Kiara and Jules hadn't already gone over. Kiara looked at her expectantly. "And your point is?" "Come on, Mione, fire away," Jules smirked

"Oh fine whatever, you two got me," Hermione pouted, rolling her eyes. Kiara smirked. She could always catch Hermione off point. "Come on you two, or we're gonna miss it," Ron interjected, annoyed.

Kiara glared daggers at him, and if looks could kill, he'd drop dead instantly. "All you ever care about is the food after, isn't it, Ronald?" Ron turned bright red. "Sometimes you being a Slytherin is really clear, Kiki." He mumbled, thinking that Kiki couldn't hear him. But unfortunately for Ron, Kiki could. "Well, If I weren't so snarky, then I wouldn't be in Slytherin, would I? The sorting hat has it's reasons, Ron," Kiara snapped.

The five filed into the great hall, and Kiara and Jules said goodbye to the their friends and went over to the Slytherin table, while the trio headed to the Gryffindor table,  and Kiara went to take a seat beside her best friend Ember as Jules went to sit with her friends at the other end. "See you later, Jules!" Kiara called. Jules nodded and sat down.

Malfoy cleared his throat. "Still hanging around those gits, Ashwinde?" He sneered, fixing a look of disgust on Kiara. "Gits, you said? And here I thought you'd have better manners than that, coming from a wealthy pure-blood family," Retorted Kiara. "Also, it doesn't concern you who I hang out with, as you are not involved. Now if you will kindly shut up, I'd like to hear what Dumbledore has to say," Kiara snapped.

Malfoy flushed. Kiara could stand up to anyone and leave them speechless. She was a living "Don't offend me" Sign. And at that exact moment, Dumbledore started speaking.

"You may have all been wondering why I have called you here. This is because we will be having 7 transfer students from the lost cities arriving on October 1st. These guests are elves, and each one has an ability," Dumbledore began. Elves... Why did that word spark something in Kiara's mind? Kiara listed in intently, hoping to discover more about her Unique nature.

"Elves? Are they like house-elves, Kiki?" Ember whispered quietly. "Maybe. But Dumbledore said they have different abilities, and are from the lost cities, whatever those are, Em," Kiara reminded her. "Still...what other species could they be?" Ember argued. Kiara rolled her eyes. Sometimes her best friend could have no common sense. "Just listen to Dumbledore, okay? He'll explain everything,"

And just as Kiara had said, Dumbledore explained that their guests were not house elves. "And everyone, please don't embarrass Hogwarts in front of our guests, who will be staying till their 7th year. I expect you all to be on your best behavior, and find some new friends," Dumbledore said, concluding his announcement. The students started to chatter amongst themselves as the food appeared.  Swinging her hair over her shoulder, Ember came up with a very silly question. "What do the Lost Cities look like, Kiki? " Kiara glanced at her wearily. "Don't ask me! I've never been there in my life. Ask the elves once they get here," Kiara responded. "Honestly Ember, sometimes I can clearly see why you are in Slytherin when your whole lineage has been in Ravenclaw," Kiara muttered quietly.

Ember sent her a glare, mouth full and unable to respond, while Malfoy drawled on about Kiara insulting Ember. "You don't show mercy to your best friend? Some frien-" He was cut off by Ember. "Don't talk about what you don't understand, Malfoy," She snapped. "And you're one to talk to about mercy when you're walking around insulting and hexing Harry," Kiara added. "That's...Different," He insisted. Kiara raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? So teasing your best friend is worse that hexing and insulting people who get in your way? Entertain me, Malfoy,"

Ember snickered quietly beside Kiara. "Give us a reason to believe it's different," She challenged. Malfoy's face paled. having no any reasons to use against the two girls.  "Oh, alright, fine, you win," Malfoy spluttered out panickily as Kiara raised her hand threateningly, ready to smack him across the face. As for the fact that Kiara wasn't afraid to do it, and that was what shut Malfoy up.

"And you said what again...?" Ember smiled sweetly. Kiara lowered her hand, losing herself to a trail of thoughts. Elves? She had felt a connection to the words, and felt as if they had been uttered when she was born. Then, as she tried to recall more information, she found a blank spot in her memory. Strange. Kiara had a photographic memory, and could remember everything that had ever happened to her. She could even remember when the Rosewoods adopted her.

"I, um, forgot something. I'll see you in the dorms, Em?" Kiara mumbled quietly, getting up to leave. Ember stared at her curiously, but said nothing. "Sure, see you later, Kiki," She answered, before returning to face Malfoy and resume their debate.

As soon as Kiara left the Great hall, she started running, running until she reached the Slytherin common room Dungeons, merely whispering "Salazar" and fled up to her dorm. "Why, why can't I remember that one year of my life. I can remember everything else. Why can't I remember this?" Kiki cried, burying her face in her pillows, dragging her nails down her head as if that could bring her memories back. Kiara was so lost into her painful thoughts she didn't even hear the door creak open as Ember stepped in.

As Ember saw Kiki on her bed, tears flowing from her eyes and streaming down her cheeks, and falling into her lap. "Kiki..." Ember whispered. She reached out hesitantly. Kiki tore at her hair, her hand submerged in the dark azure, which indicated sadness. "No... no... WHY?" Kiki wailed as furious tears continued to flow from her eyes, which were now a dark blue like her hair.

"KIKI! NO!" Ember screamed, whipping out her wand quickly. "ACCIO SUNSET!" Just as Kiki was about to rip off Sunset's feathers, Ember caught the scarlet bird. "I'm going to get Juliet," She muttered, setting down the little bird.

Juliet's POV (First Person)

Ember burst into my dorm, and grabbed my arm and tore me off my bed. "Ember?! What are you doing?" I screamed, struggling against her iron grip. "It's Kiki," she said worriedly, loosening her grip, yet it was still death tight. " I frowned. "What's wrong with her?" I asked quietly. I knew how dark my sister could get when she was lost in emotions.

Ember didn't respond, and instead dragged me to her and Kiki's dorm. As soon as we arrived and went inside, I immediately covered my ears in fear of going deaf from her howling. "KIARALYNE FORESTINE ASHWINDE!" I screamed. Kiki looked up, sniffling. And that was when I caught the gravity of her crying.

Kiara's eyes were puffy and her usual sky blue eyes were a deep scarlet red, the color of blood. Her warm chocolate hair now a flaming blend of orange and red .

"S-someone h-has e-e-eras-sed s-some of my m-memories," She gasped through sobs, and buried her head in her hands.

And as soon as the words left her mouth, I knew exactly what was going on. Even though we were twins, we were absolute opposites like the north and south. She was more emotional and short-tempered, while I was both mentally and emotionally stable .

"Kiki, listen to me, they were erased to keep us safe. You'll eventually get them back. I promise. The guests will be our key home," I promised. Mother had told me we would eventually get them back, and they were erased to keep us from being haunted by our past. Our tragic past.
