I slept for longer than I wanted to.
It was lunch by the time I woke up. I threw on some simple tactical clothes and left my room. Once again, there was a thrall of people in the halls. I didn't bother waiting for Sebastian and forced my way through. I managed to walk into the mess hall and found a cup of coffee and a sandwich. I sat down at the usual table, eating while I waited for the rest of the team to show up.
Everyone showed up, one by one. Roman must've filled them in beforehand, because they all had a concerned look in their eyes.
Sebastian didn't touch me. In fact, no one made eye contact with me. I saw pity. It made me mad.
I slammed my hands on the table, causing everyone to jump. "Well. I'm heading to the training room, if anyone would care to join me."
Roman took a sip of water and cleared his throat. "I'll join you. Want me to take you on the mat today?"
My eyes widened at how he worded that. "You may want to rethink what you just said."
He looked at me. "Is there something wrong with how I said it?" His eyes were challenging me.
After our talk about dicks, I was no longer comfortable talking about sex around him. He was a disgusting little svinya. I looked at him in disgust. "Izvrashchenets." Pervert.
Roman grinned and stood up. "Or perhaps, you'd like to take on another one on the team. Someone big."
Oh my fucking God. He was mocking me. "You are a pain in the ass." I left for the training room.
"Is that where you like to take it, printsessa?!" He called after me, laughing.
I huffed and kept walking.
***********
I decided to never open up to Roman ever again about anything personal.
I threw one of my knives at the indoor dummy. I pretended it was him, with his stupid annoying face. He gets on my nerves and pisses me off to high heaven. Him and my brother would get along well.
I chucked another knife and it lodged in the head. I smiled. I wish I could do that to him. Cut his little stupid head open and spoon out his brains to feed to the dogs. Carve his dumb little heart out and let the crows feast on his body.
I heard them file in, all laughing, probably at what Roman told them happened before we got back to base. I, without looking, threw one of my knives behind me, the blade lodging deep in the wall. I turned around. Damn. I narrowly missed Roman's ear.
He was smiling. The same smile I gave him when we first met. A challenge.
Roland stepped forward. "Winter, I have a proposition for you."
I frowned and walked over to get my knife. Roman didn't move as I stepped uncomfortably close to him, ignoring him and pulling out my knife. I wiped it off on his shirt and patted his shoulder before walking away. "And what is it?"
Roland smiled, clearly excited. "Take us all on. Minus Roman."
"All at once?"
Roland nodded. "Is that okay?"
I shrugged. "Doesn't matter to me." I walked onto the mat.
Noah smirked, rolling his shoulders as he joined me on the mat. "This is going to be fun," he said, bouncing on the balls of his feet, his stance loose but ready. "You sure you're up for this, Winter?"
Kai joined him, stretching his arms with a devilish grin. "Don't hold back. I promise we won't."
Sebastian was the last to step forward, cracking his knuckles with an audible pop. His eyes were focused, assessing. "I know you're a woman, but on this mat it means nothing. I promise I will get you toast and coffee after to make up for hurting you."
