I sighed and readjusted myself in my chair. The air smelled of salt and sea, a scent I was beyond comfortable with after growing up in Greece. I was Iris Dimitriou, daughter of The Blade, a retired world infamous assassin. I was an elite assassin of the League of Assassins and had taken a contract with Titan Force. I originally planned on taking a contract with the European branch, but my sister in arms, Winter, beat me to it, so I moved to America to take one there.
I looked at Colonel Colton, staying cool and calculating as he finished signing off on my contract, effectively signing my life away to this hellhole in California. He cleared his throat and smiled kindly at me, his white hair and brown eyes creating a sort of odd warmth. He stood and held out his hand.
"Welcome to Team Black Jack, Miss Iris. Let's go meet the others."
I shook his hand briefly and silently followed him into a small meeting room connected to his office. He held the door open for me and I walked in.
Five men looked up at me from a game of cards at a table.
One wore a black cowboy hat, with dark brown hair and blue eyes, tattoos peeking out from his shirt and along his arms.
Another had brown hair, brown eyes and barely glanced at me before going back to his cards, attempting to peek at the man next to him.
That man had orange hair, with freckles and hazel eyes. He glared at the man trying to cheat.
Another man with light blonde hair and gray eyes sighed as he watched the two fight.
Another man, with more Asian features, black hair and warm brown eyes, laughed and stood up to greet me. "Welcome to the team, Siren. It'll be nice having a woman's touch finally."
I raised my eyebrows and stared at him. "Oh?"
He smiled. "Name's Kenji, codenamed Demon." He points at the blonde man. "Anders, codenamed Viking." Points at the hazel eyed man. "Gabriel, codenamed Angel." Points to the cheater. "Julio, codenamed Skulls." He finally points to the cowboy and I make eye contact with him. He doesn't look away. "Lieutenant Wyatt. Codenamed The Reaper and our leader."
I nodded at everyone and attempted to smile, but disgust was clearly painted on my face. "Nice to meet you," I said, my voice tainted with my Greek accent.
Wyatt raised an eyebrow and looked back at his game. He threw his cards down face up on the table. "Royal Flush," he said, his voice tinged with a southern accent.
Colton smiled at the boys. "This team consists of North America's greatest special operatives."
I nod again, still wary of them. I looked back at Colton. "Is there anything else you need from me, sir?" When he shook his head I darted out the door and walked briskly through the base.
I could still feel Wyatt's icy eyes through the walls.

I sat in the rec room of TF Base 7, reading my mythology book I've had since I was a child. I had read it so much that the pages were wearing thin, but it was a gift from my mother before the League killed her for treason. It was my treasure.
Wyatt walked into the rec room and went over to the coffee pot. I saw him glance at me and walk over aftering pouring his cup of coffee as well as another one. He set one down on the small coffee table in front of me and sat in an armchair opposite me.
"You look like you'll rip my throat out if I look at you wrong, darlin'." His voice was like a song, twinged with that southern accent. He points to the cup of coffee. "Drink."
I just glare at him and the cup of coffee. I turn my nose up in disgust at him. Dirty dog.
He chuckled a little. "Are all you League women like this? Or are you Greeks just naturally irritable?"
