"WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED." yelled Lance in complete shock. Laura and Lance continued there shocked screams. "I uh killed the uh monster." Adam said in a sheepish voice. "I can tell.." Lance said. "But how?" Laura said. "Whenever I need to help a friend I get stronger." "What, huh that doesn't how wait huh, the fuck?" Laura stammered out. Lance pulled a Walky talky from his belt and tried to speak. "Not so fast." Laura said throwing it away. "I'm familiar with you hunters I'm not letting you call for your piece of shit teammates." He tried to strike Laura with a quick jab but she blocked and aimed her knife towards his throat. He quickly dodged stepping back before throwing a hook kick at her. "Wait stop, you just be hungry let's get some food I know a good spot nearby." Adam said stuttering trying to stop the fighting. "Fine I just want a explanation from "Laura" if that's even their name." They started walking over to a nearby building the pipes and leaking water around them stood under the dim light of the nearby flashing red light. "I'll never get used to this place it's so run down." Lance said in a irritated tone. "Oh we got a rich boy, where'd you grow up maybe the polar district or maybe on another frequency?" "You grow up here or something." "It's most people's story once your born here you don't really get out, nobody nearly makes enough money to feed themselves let alone move or even have a stable place to live." "I did hear the homeless issues here were pretty bad." "That's not the real issue the issue is the air pollution, the air here is horrible those not born here have to usually wear gas masks. That does bring up another question how are you fine breathing this air?" "Trade secret." Before Laura could start arguing with Lance Adam pointed out they were at the food place. They all sat down and a young boy with one leg walked with a crutch over to them to take their order. "I'll get the uh nutrient pie." "I'll get the same as her." Adam said. "I'll just have a cup of water." Lance said. The boy brought out three cups of slightly dark water and a two pies. "Why didn't you order anything." Laura questioned "I think I'm fine with the water." He said visibly disgusted by the pie. Adam and Laura started eating the pie. The insides looked like brown goop with little chunks of powder that seemed to pulsate slightly. "how can you eat that." "Gosh quit being such a spoiled brat." Laura said in a irritated tone shoving a spoonful in his mouth. Lance gagged but Laura covered his mouth. "Quit disrespecting the chef." Lance choked it down. "You bastard I've had enough of your nonsense your a serial killer so explain yourself." Adam quietly ate his food. "Listen no average person can hope to make it out of here legally, sometimes you gotta make money one way or another." "You left a signature at every seen, your trade mark gouged eyes and letter K." "It was to attract business." "What about the eyes the K was enough!" "Trade secret." She said with a grin. He ignored the joke. "Well you haven't killed anyone warranting me to do something I guess." "Hey Adam to got a place to stay." Laura said. "Um no." "Come over to my place as a thanks for treating me, also the names Kathryn." They walked out and walked over to a little alley way with no lights. As they walked down it got darker and darker eventually they came across a completely dark dead end. Kathryn moved a piece of wood out the way. It revealed a crawl space. We crawled through and came in a surprisedly comfy place. The place had little lights strone about. There was no cracks in the walls to ceiling and there was a fire place. "IS THAT A FIRE PLACE NO WAY." "Yup." Kathryn said with a grin. She took off her jacket and got on the massive sofa. "But more importantly what are you doing here." Kathryn said to Lance. "I gotta make sure you don't murder Adam he's my friend after all." "Like I'd do that." Adam continued looking around the weirdly comfortable place. It had a little radio and a bookcase filled with books. The outside freezing temperatures seemed to not penetrate the space. The warmth from the flame kept you warm enough to where you almost forgot what the outside was like. Kathryn passed out blankets and Adam went on the floor leaning on the sofa drifting to sleep as the radio played slow jazz. Lance sat on the other side of the sofa from Kathryn. We slowly all drifted to sleep in the safehaven.
