Here Again, Without You

CHAPTER 22

 On Saturday morning a continental breakfast was held in the conference room to allow every in attendance to at least have a pastry and coffee before starting the first lecture of the day. A breakout session was held afterwards to allow for questions and answers that would require some extra time for those interested. Allowing another speaker to come forth for the next session as well, to express their knowledge in how they had accomplished what they do for their business.

Some business shared their plans on how they started up and how they have been doing and making the jobs more accessible for everyone in their company. Some of the others were just there to see what was available for them to implement into their business and work for them as well.

Kelby was on her way to the conference after being discharged home with her husband Ethan and her cousin Donald who would speak again in the afternoon with his breakout session. After they had arrived it was time for the luncheon that was to take place at the Rechin Campare Cafe. Ethan, Kelby and Donald walked in and had seen their family sitting at different tables along with other business men and women conversing in how they had kept a family tradition alive for a long time. Finding their table, they were seated with Maggie and Marleena, who they knew from having worked with them prior to this Conference. Ethan ordered for him and Kelby, while Donald ordered what Marleena was having for his own meal. After the lunch period was over they all headed back to the conference room at the Princess Tower Hotel for the afternoon session to start with Donald giving how he was able to let everyone know again how he started his business and where he trained as well as keeping his business alive with such things to keep employee satisfaction as well as their well being with family and business alive and well while being prosperous through the whole years past and present. His breakout session had many who were in the same business asking what he was doing differently from them, first he told them he would not ask any of his employees to do something that he alone was not willing to do. Secondly, he asked them to do things that they themselves were trained to do in the area they work in and to work together as a team with their coworkers. Thirdly, allow them to be their own judge on projects that were designated to them to work on asking if they needed help to further their education as he also keeps up with the changes in the industry as well. Lastly is to allow employees their time for family as well as extended family time that they need to keep themselves healthy.

When the last session of the afternoon was done and it was time for the final formal banquet that was taking place that evening as the end of this year conference with ideas to be taken back for the next years Business of Excellence Conference. Entertainment was provided by a very close friend of the Callsburg-Dakster's for the evening, she had played for the changing of the CEO conference of the Callsburg Industry. They gave her a standing ovation and wanted an encore for her playing which she was prepared to do after the evening meal. After the close of the meal everyone went to their prospective rooms to pack for the morrow to depart for their homes.

Kelby and Ethan returned to the hospital to see their baby girl who was lying in the incubator at the NICU there in Cobbles Ohio awaiting word from the Pediatrician on when their little one would be ready to go home. Being in the NICU with baby Naomi named after her great grandmother her parents lovingly held her tiny hands and touched her tiny feet and noticed that some of the tubes were removed all except for the ones that provided her with hydration and nutrition to help build her weight up and for her to keep gaining to be able to go home. The pediatrician came to visit little Gloria and her parents giving them good news that she could possibly go home in the coming week as long as she could keep her weight up and was glad that now she is breathing on her own with out assist, turning to the nurse asking for her to hand the baby over to them to hold and to start with the slow bottle feeding so that the baby could get use to sucking from it and improve the bonding with parents.

Marleena having been over at Maggie's home helping her to set up the baby's room that Maggie had choosen to be in pastel neutral colors of yellow and green with a hint of brown in the walls, the curtains were green with yellow trim, the changing table is a light oak color with the baby bed dresser being the same color as well. Thank goodness the dresser baby bed combo can grow up with the baby from crib to toddler bed to full size bed. This would save on buying a bed every six years until the child has reached the age of ten and could sleep on their own. Maggie was pleased to have seen this transformation of the nursery for the baby that was due in the next five months. Next on her agenda was to set up a small nursery in a corner of her office to keep the baby close by.

Marleena arrived back to the office, proceeding to Maggie's office she open the door and looks for the nearest corner behind Maggie's desk to start the placement for the small nursery set up for baby. After rearranging Maggie's office to protect the corner and allow for room for a partition inside the office to place the nursery behind she was beginning to long for a child of her own knowing that she would not be able to have one. This was all thanks to the time when she fell and injured her abdomen trying to save Maggie from getting stabbed. She was glad she was going to have a niece or nephew soon which she was thankful for. A tear slipping from her eye, she set about to create a nursery for Maggie using the same theme as at home only with brighter colors to brighten up Maggie's office and make it more family friendly to the clients that Maggie has.

Flash Back: The night after the home coming Basketball game Maggie and Marleena were walking back home which was a three block walk, when suddenly an unknown male jumped out welding a long sharp blade of a knife aiming at Maggie when Marleena jumped infront taking in the brunt of the blade.

The sound of sirens wailed as they rushed to the seen of where Marleena was stabbed, rushing her to the emergency room. Marleena had lost a lot of blood during this time and was taken into surgery immediately where the Dr.'s repaired her internal female organs and other organs as well leaving her with a long term recovery all the while of loosing the ability of having children at all, End of flash back.
