prologue

In a world cloaked in shadows and secrets, Decelis Academy stood as a sanctuary of magic and mystery. Hidden away from the prying eyes of the human realm, it was nestled on the floating island of Riverfield, a place of wonder suspended high above the ground.

Far from the dangers of the supernatural world-where werewolves roamed and darker forces lurked-Riverfield was a haven for young witches, wizards, and all manner of magical beings.

Here, in this enchanted academy, students were taught the ancient arts of spellcraft, potion-making, and the delicate balance between light and dark magic. But within the hallowed halls of Decelis, there was one group of students who were more infamous than the rest-the troublemakers.

The troublemakers of Decelis Academy-Lee Heeseung, Park Jay, Sim Jaeyun, Park Sunghoon, Kim Sunoo, Nishimura Riki, and their fearless (and sometimes clueless) leader, Yang Jungwon-were legends within the school.

Known for their endless pranks and chaotic escapades, they had managed to irritate nearly every professor in the academy, but none more so than Professor Min Yoongi, the perpetually exhausted spells instructor.

It was on a particularly dreary Wednesday that the boys found themselves in Professor Min's class, reluctantly following Jungwon after he lost a rigged game of rock, paper, scissors.

As they dragged their feet, a shared sense of impending doom loomed over them like a dark cloud-Ni-ki's most recent magical mishap had turned Jay into a bullfrog, much to everyone's dismay.

The poor bullfrog had spent the entire day hopping around the academy, croaking furiously as he chased after Ni-ki, who was desperately trying to reverse the spell. The sight of a bullfrog in a tiny school uniform, leaping after a panicked Ni-ki, had become the talk of Decelis Academy.

And Professor Min had never quite recovered from the chaos it caused.

The class started innocently enough. Professor Min had barely finished explaining the day's spell when the boys, already bored, began whispering among themselves. Ni-ki, with his usual mischievous grin, suggested trying out a new spell he had "found" in one of the forbidden books.

"Are you out of your mind?" Heeseung whispered, though not without a hint of excitement.

"Do you have a death wish?" Sunghoon added, but his curiosity was piqued.

"Relax, guys, what's the worst that could happen?" Ni-ki said, waving his hand dismissively.

"The worst? Oh, I don't know, maybe turning into a pack of rodents? Or worse, losing our Pegasus privileges!" Sunoo hissed, shivering at the thought.

But, as always, the lure of mischief was too strong to resist. They huddled around Ni-ki, each of them peeking over his shoulder as he began the incantation. The room started to fill with a low hum, a vibration that buzzed through their bones, as smoke began to rise from their table.

Professor Min, noticing the strange activity, narrowed his eyes. These boys were up to something again. He began walking toward them, each step heavy with dread.

Just as he was about to reach their table, the inevitable happened-a loud bang echoed through the classroom, followed by an explosion of smoke that enveloped everything in sight. The other students immediately ducked under their desks, used to the boys' chaotic spells by now.

When the smoke cleared, Professor Min was greeted by an unusual sight. The boys' uniforms were scattered on the floor, empty and lifeless.

He blinked, thinking for a moment that they had managed to disapparate. But no, that would have been too clean, too simple. Instead, there was movement. Seven tiny, furry heads poked out from the folds of the clothes, wide-eyed and mewling in confusion.

"What have you done, Ni-ki?!" Jay's voice, now several octaves higher, squeaked out from the kitten that was clearly him.

The other kittens echoed the sentiment, their tiny bodies quivering in panic.

Professor Min's lips twitched in a mix of irritation and amusement. He'd never seen such a pathetic sight in his life.

"I suppose this will teach you all a lesson," he muttered, crouching down to gather the kittens. But before he could grab them, one of the kittens-a sleek, silver Egyptian Mau-sank its teeth into his finger.

"Ouch!" Professor Min recoiled, rubbing his hand. "That's it. I'm done with you lot."

Deciding that physical contact was overrated, he flicked his wand, levitating the squirming kittens into the air.

He marched them out of the classroom, their tiny protests drowned out by the sound of his resolute footsteps echoing through the corridor.

As they reached the edge of the forest near the Headmaster's tower, Professor Min paused. The kittens floated behind him, their eyes wide with terror as they glanced down at the drop below.

"Please, don't do this," the kitten formerly known as Jungwon begged, his tiny voice trembling.

Professor Min ignored him. "You boys have been a thorn in my side for far too long," he said with a sigh. "It's time you learned what real consequences feel like."

With a swift motion, he conjured a box out of thin air. The kittens' eyes grew even wider, if that was possible.

"This will teach you to mess with forbidden spells," Professor Min said, as he gently but firmly directed the kittens into the box.

He took a deep breath, as if steadying himself for what was to come, and with a flick of his wrist, sent the box hurtling into the world of ordinary people.

For a moment, he stood in silence, the weight of what he'd done settling over him. He knew he should feel guilty-after all, he was the professor here. But instead, all he felt was a deep, bone-weary relief.

"They'll figure it out," he muttered to himself, turning on his heel and heading back to the academy. "Eventually."

As he walked away, he couldn't help but chuckle. The boys would be in for quite the shock when they realized they were stuck in kitten form with no idea how to reverse the spell.

And as for the chaos they'd unleash in the human world?

Well, that wasn't his problem-at least, not for now.

Back at Decelis, it would be a while before anyone noticed the absence of the troublemakers. But by then, the boys would have learned a valuable lesson-maybe. And Professor Min would be enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasted.
