The couple walked hand in hand, smiling and laughing together. They arrived back in Chicago a day ago, and they hadn't separated since. Darryl's mom noticed, teasing them about it, but they weren't embarrassed;quite the opposite.
"I listened to some songs by James Brown, and I must say, I would've never thought you'd be into such music!" He laughed boisterously at her words. She seemed so surprised!
"What kind of music did you think I would like?" She thought. He didn't seem like someone who liked music full of raunchy lyrics or cuss words. She shrugged. "Slow music?"
"That's good, too. My music taste tends to vary. I mean, I never thought I'd enjoy Hey Jude. I've never heard of the song before, but it was surprisingly good." The woman agreed with him. "That was one of my favorites when I was a kid."
"I see why. I relate to it a lot, especially when it comes to you." Ophelia became flustered. He always said things like this to her, and it never failed to make her feel funny. She opened her mouth, wanting to return his kind words, but a loud voice, one clearly belonging to a man, interrupted her.
"HEY!" They startled, whirling around to see three men. Two dark-skinned men, one stood in the middle, while one was on the left. The other male, who was light-skinned, stood on the right. The previous two had facial hair, while the last one bore none.
"Yo, Darryl, remember us?"
