The days after their confession felt like a dream Yunjin never wanted to wake up from. There was a lightness in her step, an effervescence that bubbled up inside her every time she saw Chaewon. Even the simplest things — a smile, a wave, a casual touch on her arm — felt like they carried so much more weight now. And yet, despite the growing comfort between them, a hint of uncertainty lingered in the air, like the pause before a storm.
They had agreed to "figure things out together," but what did that really mean? Neither had put a label on whatever was happening between them, and Yunjin wasn't sure how to proceed. She wanted to dive in headfirst, to explore this new territory without hesitation, but at the same time, she feared pushing Chaewon too far, too fast. She didn't want to risk losing what they had already found.
Chaewon, for her part, found herself equally torn. She had never felt this way about anyone before, and it terrified her. The intensity of her feelings for Yunjin was something she couldn't quite understand, something she couldn't quite control. But every time she saw Yunjin, every time their eyes met across the practice room, her heart beat a little faster, and the world seemed to blur around the edges. She knew she wanted to be close to Yunjin, but how close was too close?
It was on one of these days, after a particularly grueling rehearsal, that Chaewon found herself alone in the practice room, her body aching but her mind restless. She sat down on the floor, leaning against the mirrored wall, and closed her eyes, trying to quiet the thoughts racing through her head. The room was dimly lit, the only sound the faint hum of the air conditioning and the distant echoes of footsteps in the hallway.
Moments later, the door creaked open. Chaewon opened her eyes and found Yunjin standing in the doorway, her hair slightly disheveled, a look of concern etched on her face.
"Hey," Yunjin said softly. "You okay?"
Chaewon offered a small smile. "Yeah, just... thinking."
Yunjin walked over and sat down beside her, their shoulders brushing. "About?"
Chaewon hesitated, then sighed. "About us... about what happens next."
Yunjin nodded slowly, understanding the unspoken question. "I've been thinking about that too," she admitted. "I don't want to rush you, Chaewon. I just... I just want to be with you, in whatever way feels right."
Chaewon felt a rush of warmth at Yunjin's words, her heart swelling with emotion. She turned to look at Yunjin, their faces close enough that she could see every freckle, every line, every little detail. "I want that too," she whispered, almost afraid to say it out loud.
Yunjin's smile was soft, her eyes filled with a mixture of relief and affection. "Then let's just take it one step at a time. No pressure, no expectations. Just... us."
Chaewon nodded, feeling a sense of calm settle over her. "Okay. One step at a time."
For a moment, they just sat there in comfortable silence, the weight of the world lifting from their shoulders. Yunjin reached out and took Chaewon's hand, her thumb brushing gently over her knuckles. Chaewon felt a shiver run down her spine at the touch, a spark that ignited something deep inside her.
"Want to get out of here?" Yunjin asked suddenly, a playful grin spreading across her face. "I know a place."
Chaewon raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A place? What kind of place?"
Yunjin's grin widened. "You'll see. Come on, trust me."
Without another word, Yunjin stood up, pulling Chaewon to her feet. They slipped out of the practice room, careful not to attract too much attention. Yunjin led the way through the maze-like hallways of the building, her hand firmly holding Chaewon's. Chaewon felt a thrill of excitement coursing through her veins; it felt like they were sneaking out, like they were breaking the rules somehow, and she loved it.
After a few minutes of winding through the corridors, they reached a door that led to a staircase. Yunjin pushed it open and started to climb, pulling Chaewon along behind her. They ascended several flights of stairs, the air growing cooler and fresher with each step. Finally, they reached the top, and Yunjin pushed open another door, revealing a rooftop bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun.
Chaewon gasped at the sight. The sky was painted in hues of orange, pink, and gold, the city stretching out below them like a sea of twinkling lights. A gentle breeze blew through their hair, carrying with it the scent of blooming flowers from a nearby garden.
Yunjin turned to look at Chaewon, her eyes shining with excitement. "This is my favorite spot," she said softly. "I come up here when I need to clear my head, to think... or just to breathe."
Chaewon smiled, her heart swelling with affection for the girl standing before her. "It's beautiful," she whispered. "Thank you for bringing me here."
Yunjin shrugged, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush. "I wanted to share it with you."
They stood there for a while, just taking in the view, their fingers still intertwined. The city below was bustling with life, but up here, it felt like they were in their own little world, separate from everything and everyone else.
Yunjin suddenly let go of Chaewon's hand and walked over to a small bench tucked away in the corner. She picked up an old, worn-out guitar that had been resting there, and turned back to Chaewon with a mischievous grin.
"I thought maybe... we could sing something?" Yunjin suggested, her eyes twinkling.
Chaewon laughed, shaking her head. "You're unbelievable," she said, but there was no denying the joy in her voice. "But... okay. What song?"
Yunjin strummed a few chords, testing the strings
