Andrea's Pov:
Today didn't feel real. I was at my aunts house but instead of being here during the summer I'm here in the January cold winter getting ready for my Uncle's funeral. It was all so sudden, just last night I flew in to Forks. I was far from my home in Texas.A subtle knock filled the room I was in. "Come in", I replied. I knew it was my cousin Leah, she was checking to see if I was ready. I could see right through the shield she held up trying hard to not show the pain of loosing her dad. I walked up to her and hugged her, comforting her. Then I whispered "you don't have to hide Infront of me." Leah tensed up a little at what I said but then I heard light sobs come from her. I rubbed circles in her back. I sympathized for her, I wouldn't know what to do If I were to lose my dad. She then pulled away, "thank you, I needed that."
I replied with, "I'm always here for you, that's what cousins do." Leah half way smiled, "we should get going."
Everyone was gathered around at the La push cemetery. There were some familiar faces like family and friends and some not so familiar to me but I could tell that they were from the rez. I was standing next to my brother, sad tears streaming down his face. My eyes were tearing up but I didn't want to cry I wanted to be strong, I had to be strong for the family. I pulled back my tears and leaned into my brother, wrapping my arm around his shoulder. We stood in silence as everyone paid their respects and watched as the casket got lowered into the ground. My uncle is now a memory.
As the funeral came to an end people strolled to their car and left. Close family and friends were the only ones that stayed. We all decided to meet up at the pier at La push beach. It was my uncle's favorite spot to fish.
We pulled up at the beach and it already started to rain I'm so glad that I brought my umbrella. It feels like it rains at least 10 times a day in Forks. The rain is basically it's own season here.
As I got out the car I saw Leah and caught up with her. I know these times will be hard for her and Seth. I want to be there for them as best I can, family always looks out for each other.
We joined the others, my parents, aunt Sue, Seth and my brother. They were chatting and reminiscing about memories of my uncle. Even with the rain it was peaceful . Leah and I stayed quiet just viewing the sight in front of us. But then I felt a light tap on my left shoulder. I turned around and saw no other than my best friend Jacob. I haven't seen him since the summer but we do keep in touch. "Jacob", I say with a small smile on my face. He smiles too as we pull each other into a hug. Jacob was warm like always, we pulled away then he spoke. "I wanted to see how you were doing." "I'm fine, thanks Jake." "I know, but I also know that you hide your emotions to stay strong for everyone else...what I'm trying to say is that I'm here for you, always." His words made me smile "thank you, I'm here for you too."
Ahhh ok 2nd chapter is kinda sad. I was going to put Sue's speech in here but I thought it would have been too sad with it being the 2nd chapter. Also, Jacob hasn't shifted yet just wanted to clarify just in case someone was confused. Hope y'all enjoyed don't forget to vote - A
