"AND THE WINNER OF THE FIRST NPR OF THE YEAR IS...TOO CLOSE TO CALL" the announcer shouted into his mic.
"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS WE CANT ANNOUNCE THE WINNER, WE NEED THE REPLAY FOOTAGE"
The people in the back room watched the tape over and over again, trying to decide who won the race. The announcer was right, it was EXTREMELY close. But finally after a while of changing angles and zooming in they finally had an answer.
"I just got word from the reviewers, the winner of this year's first race is... CHASE!"
The crowd went wild, flowers were tossed everywhere. So many new fans ran onto the track to congratulate the German shepherd, the pups and Ryder all crowded Chase giving him many hugs and licks. All cheering his name and through the crowd he saw Nato be questioned by news people.
"How do you feel about your first loss since 2019?"
"Do you think you still have a chance to win this year's NPR competition?"
"What were you saying to Chase during the final stretch of the race?"
All the news people continued to bombard Nato with many questions about today's race,
"People please, today was just a minor setback. I simply underestimated the new racer, but I can promise you all. It won't happen again, I won't be so merciful on Chase. But he can have this moment, he did beat me so bravo to him. Just know, this will be his first and only win." Nato said with a straight face.
Chase simply smiled, he beat Nato. The whole word watched him lose.
"You did amazing Chase!" Ryder said while picking up Chase,
"I know you're tired but I hope you're ready for the after party! You have some new fans." Ryder explained putting Chase back down.
Chase filled with excitement said yes. All the pups ran into the limo. It was incredibly difficult because Chase had so many new fans and he needed workers to block them off and clear a path so Chase could safely make us way to the limo. After he entered the whole limo blasted music the whole way to the party spot, upon arrival Chase dawned his new dark blue suit. All the pups and Ryder followed behind wearing their own attire.
Marshal wore a black tux with a dark red bow tie. He stepped out paw in paw with Everest, who wore a light purple dress and black shoes. Skye followed close behind in a white dress with light pink shoes. They all walked into the party where Chase was immediately swarmed by pups. But more specifically, female pups.
"Omg Chase that was so hot"
"Yea especially when you beat Nato"
"Hey you wanna get some alone time, if you know what I mean hehe"
"Hey baby, come onnn let's dance. Let's dance."
All the females started to stroke Chases fur making him blush.
"Lady's lady's give him a break, he already has a date for tonight" Marshal said stepping in and wrapping his arm around Chases neck and pulled him out of the crowd.
"Thanks Marshal- wait who's my date?!" Chase exclaimed escaping the Dalmatians grasp. He turned to face the Dalmatian but was only met with a slick smile. Marshall didn't even need to say anything, Chase already knew what he was refusing to. Chase simply rolled his eyes and walked around the party to try and find Skye. When he finally did he was met with a horrid sight, yet again his cockapoo crush hanging out with the lab he beat. Chase was filled with annoyance, he hated how much they were hanging out. He watched as Nato used his paw to lift up Skyes head.
