the following moring i walked into the stables to see Oberon, Carlisle, and Lunar already waiting for me.
"Wow, big surprise. He is the last to show up," Oberon said sarcastically as he finished putting the last bag onto his horse.
"cut him some slack," Lunar said, his Luna moth wings folded behind him. "he probably got very little sleep, this is his sister on the line."
"i slept not a wink and yet i am here." Oberon mounted his horse, his large raven-like wings stretched then folded by his side.
"here Alex dear." Carlisle said, standing by my horse, it was already ready for me.
"that you Carlisle." i looked at his outfit, he was just wearing a simple pair of breaches, a white shirt that was a little bit too frilly and a vest. "i didn't know you could dress in something other then big gowns." i laughed.
"i am not ruining a gown on an adventure." Carlisle held his hand in front of himself then walked to his own horse.
we mounted our horses and took off down the quiet streets of the capital of Drakaria, Mystea. the gaurd at the main gate to the city was asleep.
i cleared my throat and he jumped to his feet. "prince Alexander, how can i be of assistance?"
"it would be nice if you could allow us out of the city." i said to the guard.
"going on a quest?" he asked as he started to pull the rope to open the gate.
"how did you know that?" i raised an eyebrow.
"enough of your family has come through here with the same look on their faces that i know when something big is going on." he chuckled, "dont worry, i wont say a thing."
"thank you Charlie." I smiled at the gaurd.
"wait, you know my name?" he asked, a bit surprised.
"you have been guarding this gate for fifty-seven years and never aged a day." i said. "people tend to notice you."
"you got me." he laughed. "im one fourth elf on my mothers side."
"i can tell." i pointed at my own normal ears, talking about his slightly pointed. "take care." i nodded to him and we took off.
we rode past mountains and fields, heading east. nothing much of interest happened, so when night fell we decided to make camp.
Lunar stared to gather wood while i worked trying to at least start a fire, the dry leaves would not start.
"i see you do not have the same survival talent that your sister has." Oberon was being sarcastic again.
"shut up you stupid fairy." i muttered, still trying to light the fire.
"excuse me." Carlisle sounded offended. "remember he is not the only fairy here."
"sorry." i said. "its easy to forget since i grew up with you as a human. plus you dont have any wings."
"how rude." Carlisle walked away. "im going to help Lunie collect wood."
"whatever." i rolled my eyes.
"you know." Oberon spoke, his voice irritating me. "this is easier." he pointed to the fire and it ignited, i had to back away quickly.
"are you trying to kill me?" i snapped at him.
"no." Oberon answered. "my wife would be sad if that happened. however, singeing your stupid girl-like hair would be an added bonus."
"its how my uncle grows it." i said, putting out a spark that landed on my long yellow-blond hair.
"on him it looks like it belongs." Oberon laughed. "on you, you look like your sister, and i do not want to be thinking of that."
i reached into my bag and pulled out a ribbon, tying my hair into a bun at the top of my head. "better?"
"much." Oberon poked the fire with a stick. "now you actually look like a man."
"you two need to stop fighting." Lunar came back with an arm full of wood, Carlisle right behind him. "you need to remember that you are both working to save a girl we all care about. but who am i to judge, im just a humble servant who was given away."
"Lunar." Oberon looked a bit annoyed. "you know you care my most trusted friend."
"you threw me off a cliff when i was trying to protect you." Lunar sat on the ground.
"you were hurting Astraea." Oberon growled. "besides, you have wings."
"still, that hurts me deeply." Lunar looked away.
"you were hurting my sister?" i glared at Lunar. "how?"
"he grabbed her throat and dug his nails in." Oberon answered.
"you did what?" i stood and marched over to Lunar, picking him up by the collar.
"with all respect." Lunar looked scared. "i thought she was trying to hurt my king, and he saved her anyway."
"he also helped her try to sacrifice herself to kill your father." Oberon mentioned.
i threw Lunar to the ground. "just when i was starting to like you too. Carlisle, why associate with trash like him?"
"Alexander you are out of line." Carlisle rushed to Lunars side. "we all make mistakes, he clearly made up with her, so drop it."
"whatever." i walked from the fire and went to feed the horses some carrots. "at least you cant annoy me."
