I ran after my sister down the hall, bumping into my mother.
"Is everything okay?" She asked as she stopped me. "Your sister is crying. But we really need to leave."
"Ill meet you in the portal room." I told her as i rushed off. How could i be so stupid? She was the one person in the world who had my back always and i had to stick my foot in my mouth.
I ran up the stairs to the top floor and knocked on her door.
The door swung open, Robin leaning on the doorframe. "You really messed up this time, didnt you?"
I nodded, glancing past to see my sister crying on the bench by the window. "Just let me in Robin."
"No can do." He blocked my way with his wing. "She asked not to see you."
"Look." I said really loudly. "I do care what you think sister. I care more what you think than anyone else in this family. Do you think i would have gone on an entire quest just to save you if i didnt not care?"
"I need you Astraea," i continued. "I need you by my side when i take my throne. I need you more then anything right now."
"Its best you leave." Robin spoke.
"Let him in." My sister called.
"Are you sure?" He glanced back at her.
"My brother is an idiot," she started. "But i do not think he would come here to hurt me farther. Let him in."
"As you wish." He moved out of my way. "If you make her cry farther, you will wish you never came here."
"Understood." I nodded as i stepped into the room.
I sat by my sisters side, she sat with her head in the knees, sobbing.
"Astraea, im sorry." I started. "Really and truly sorry. I was feeling stressed out from everything and it slipped out.... Mother offered to turn me into a full blooded elf to make taking the throne easier, but i declined."
She looked up at me. "You said no?"
"I said no." I nodded. "I dont need it."
"You know your lifespan will be shorter then the rest of us right?" She wiped her tears on her sleeve.
"Nah." I chuckled. "Amethyst and Aurora are also like me."
"That can always change." She looked at me with worry. "This was your only chance to not leave me alone one day, and you didnt even talk to me about it."
"Because it was not your choice to make." I told her.
"You think getting my husband and our father's powers and extending my life was my choice?" She sobbed. "If i was going to have a normal life span, at least i had you too."
"I am not going to die that fast you know." I smiled at my sister, trying to show her it was okay. "I still have the elves blood in me, i can live at least another hundred years or more."
"I just hate that, even though i need you... you dont need me." She buried her head and her knees again.
"How could i ever not need my twin sister?" I placed a hand on her back. "I will always need you, sister. Just like i need you now, i need you by my side when i become a king."
"i dont know brother." she looked up again. "are you sure you dont need Odessa more?"
"Odessa?" i looked at her with shock. "Odessa is not my sister. i woke up with her in my bed and did not want to scare her away because she is still adjusting to her life here, that is all that happened."
