1 week later
The old house groaned under the relentless downpour, each creak a reminder of how fragile their current hideout was. Jungkook paced back and forth, his mind in turmoil, while Taehyung sat in a corner, his arms crossed, his expression cold and distant.
A sudden, sharp knock cut through the tension. Jungkook and Taehyung exchanged wary glances before Jungkook moved cautiously to the door, hand on the gun at his waist. He yanked it open, revealing Jackson and Suga, both drenched from the rain, their faces urgent and serious.
Jackson shoved past Jungkook.
"Move, bitch," he snapped,
Jungkook stumbled slightly, thrown off by Jackson's aggression.
"What the hell is going on?"
Jackson's gaze swept the room.
"We're getting you both out of here. Now," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Taehyung's eyes narrowed, his voice sharp and icy. "And why should we follow you?"
Suga stepped inside, shutting the door behind him.
"The attackers are closing in. We don't know who they are yet, but we need to get you out of here first and figure out who's behind this later."
Jungkook shot a look at Taehyung, who remained expressionless, his face colder than the storm outside.
"So we're just supposed to trust you?" Jungkook retorted, suspicion edging his voice.
Jackson moved closer, eyes fierce. "You don't have a choice, Jungkook. We're not staying here to die. Pack your things. We leave now."
As they scrambled to gather their belongings, Jackson muttered under his breath, "Good thing that pregnancy scare was fake, anyway."
At that, Taehyung gulped, his usual steady composure wavering for just a moment. Suga's sharp gaze flicked to Taehyung, catching the subtle reaction. For a split second, Jungkook noticed the tension in Suga's jaw - he wasn't the only one feeling uneasy.
Jackson continued, his tone unwavering,
"After the shootout, we reinforced the protection around our base. Dad and Jimin are fine for now, handling things from a distance."
At the mention of Jackson's father and Jimin, Jungkook and Suga both tensed, a wave of discomfort passing between them. Jungkook felt an unsettling sensation in his chest, like a warning bell ringing somewhere deep inside. Suga's reaction was almost imperceptible - a quick inhale, a tightening of his eyes. Jackson, noticing Suga's subtle shift in demeanor, raised an eyebrow but kept speaking,
"We fight together, or we die together."
Then he turned his gaze back to Jungkook, his expression stern.
"And another thing stay away from Tae. I don't care if you're my blood. Keep your distance. Understand?"
Jungkook clenched his jaw but gave a sharp nod, swallowing his anger. Now wasn't the time for another confrontation.
Taehyung finally spoke, his tone as cold as ice. "I'm leaving with Jackson,"
turning sharply without glancing at Jungkook.
Jungkook felt a pang of hesitation, a mix of frustration and something deeper he couldn't quite name. He watched Taehyung's cold demeanor and hesitated for a split second before deciding to stay silent.
As they prepared to leave, Suga cast a curious glance between them.
"What's with you two?"
Jungkook shook his head, the frustration evident in his voice.
