"I knew it," he hisses through his teeth.
"Charles-"
"I knew it!" he raises his voice, just below a yell. Anger is blazing in his eyes, a look that I've never seen on him before. It's a look that sobered me up much quicker than I'd like to admit.
"It's wasn't her fault, it was all me," begins Arthur, rushing over to him. In response, Charles shoves Arthur so hard that he falls to the ground, causing me to gasp.
"Charles, I didn't realise it was happening-" I try to explain, the guilt almost unbearable, but he cuts me off immediately.
"Don't try to act like this hasn't happened before Aria," he growls, my jaw dropping at his accusation.
"Nothing has ever happened between us," I state firmly, pointing at Arthur who's finally standing again.
"And you expect me to believe that," laughs Charles sarcastically. "I trusted you," he says, jabbing his pointer finger into Arthurs chest. "You promised me."
My eyebrows knit together. "He promised you what?" I try to question, but it comes out as only a whisper. Charles' eyes dart over to mine.
"His feelings for you. He promised they wouldn't get in the way," he replies, tears threatening to appear in his eyes.
"You knew?" I ask in surprise, my voice breathy and helpless.
"Only recently," mutters Arthur, his gaze not leaving the floor.
"Did you know before the casino?" I question, looking at Charles. He shakes his head. I look back to Arthur.
"That's why you were being distant," I realise, piecing the puzzle together.
"Clearly not distant enough," spits Charles, and I shoot him a glare.
"Arthur, can Charles and I have the room alone please?" I inquire lowly, my eyes not leaving Charles' angry stare.
"Oh so we can continue what you guys started?" scowls Charles mockingly. "Want me to press you up against the counter Aria? Want me to kiss your neck?!"
The teasing tone of his voice left a pang of pain in my chest, a lump in my throat beginning to form, but I ignore it to the best of my ability.
"Don't talk to her like-" starts Arthur, but I don't let him continue.
"Arthur, get OUT!" I yell, finally looking at him again, pointing to the door. He drops his head once more, leaving slowly, his brother watching his every move. He closes the door behind him, the music becoming muffled. Charles crosses his arms.
"You're a piece of shit Aria," he says nastily. I flinch at the harshness of his words.
"He was trying to find you, you know," I mention, saying anything to make sure I don't cry.
"Who?!" utters Charles.
"Jude. I was too drunk to drink my water so, he went to go find you," I speak, my voice getting shakier by the second. "A-And then, Arthur came in and I was mad at him so-"
"-So he fucking kissed you?!" shouts Charles, not believing a word I'm saying. "Jude never found me Aria. But you know what I did find?!" He takes a few steps forward, towering over me. "I found you, with your legs wrapped around my brothers waist!"
I've never seen him this furious before, even after losing a race. A small sob escapes my mouth. "I'm drunk Charles, I had no idea what I was doing," I cry, but he just begins to laugh sarcastically once more, taking a step away from me.
