༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶aoife walked briskly through the bustling paddock of japan, microphone in hand as she caught up with oscar. the sun was shining, and the paddock was alive with sounds of mechanics at work, the hum of engines, and the chatter of team members. oscar, clad in his papaya team gear, was all smiles as he matched her pace, the two weaving through the crowd as they spoke.
"i guess we're walking and talking today." aoife joked, as she walked beside oscar. "you've had quite a good half of the season last year, how do you feel for this year?"
oscar, his youthful enthusiasm evident, flashed a grin. "nice to see you too, aoife. it's been a whirlwind, to be honest, but i'm loving every second of it. every race is a new challenge, the team bringing upgrades and lando and i ended the season pretty good last year. we're pretty confident for this season."
aoife nodded, impressed by his humility. "what's been the biggest learning curve for you since stepping up to F1?"
oscar considered the question for a moment as they navigated past a group of engineers. "i think the biggest thing has been adapting to the car and the pace of everything. the jump from F2 to F1 is massive—not just in terms of speed, but also the complexity of the cars and the level of competition. but the team's been incredible in helping me adjust, and i'm starting to feel more comfortable with each race."
as they passed the mclaren garage, aoife steered the conversation toward his relationship with his teammate. "you and lando seem to have a great rapport—how has it been working with him?"
oscar smiled at the mention of his teammate. "lando's been awesome. he's got a lot of experience, so i've been able to learn a lot from him. we get along well off the track, too, which definitely helps. it's good to have that kind of dynamic where we push each other but also support one another."
aoife chuckled, knowing how competitive the paddock could be. "and when you're not pushing each other on track, i hear there's a bit of a rivalry on the simulator and with gaming?"
oscar laughed, nodding. "oh, definitely. We're both pretty competitive, so whether it's on the track, on the simulator, or even just messing around with video games, neither of us likes to lose. but it's all in good fun—most of the time, anyway!"
as they approached the entrance to the hospitality area, aoife glanced around, sensing the end of their brief walk together. "before i let you go, oscar, what's the goal for this weekend? what's on your mind as you prepare for the race?"
oscar's expression turned more serious, his focus shifting to the task at hand. "i think it's just about continuing to build on what we've done so far. we've had some strong results, and the car's feeling good. so it's about putting everything together, minimizing mistakes, and hopefully fighting for points again. i'm feeling confident."
