Chapter Eight

"Just," Andy paused. "Can you be here a little longer?" Andy asked looking at Maya, tears in her eyes.

"Of course, Andy. I'll be here as long as you want." Maya said, pulling her into a hug.

2 hours later

Andy and Maya were on the couch, both women cuddled into each other, not wanting to do anything else. They had the TV turned down which meant Andy's thoughts were running wild in her head. "More people I love are dead than alive," Andy whispered. "Maybe I'm on the wrong side." Andy closed her eyes, trying to blink back tears, not wanting to cry. Andy and Maya were on the couch and Maya pulled Andy into her arms again.

"Andy, please never say that again. You have so many people that love you." Maya told her, arms tightening, scared to let Andy go. "I know things suck right now, I know you feel like things are falling apart."

"Like things are falling apart?" Andy asked, cutting her off. "Maya, things are already apart," Andy told her, standing up. "I'm just so fucking tired," Andy told Maya, running a hand through her hair. "Maya, I'm so sick of losing people. I can't keep doing it!" Andy told her, fuming.

Maya stood up along with Andy and tried to get close to her, but Andy just backed away.

"Andy, tell me what I can do," Maya pleaded.

"You can leave," Andy said, and Maya was shocked.

"No. there's no way in hell I'm leaving you alone with the state your mind is in right now, Andy."

Andy sighed and glared at Maya. "I don't need a babysitter."

Maya rolled her eyes. "You basically said you don't want to be alive anymore, Andy," Maya said, softer this time.

Andy looked down and nodded. "I know. I just, Maya, I'm just so tired," Andy admitted, letting the tears fall from her eyes and fell into Maya's arms.

Maya held Andy in her arms and felt her heart breaking. She hated seeing Andy so broken up and didn't know what to do. She knew the only one who could get through to her, really get through to her was gone with Ryan. Sure, Robert made her feel again, but no one ever made her feel like her other half. Maya sighed.

"Andy, I know things haven't been easy for you. But please, don't give up. Don't give up on the life you have. It's hard right now, full of pressure right now, but please know that I'm not going anywhere, okay? So please, while you're feeling weak and scared and overwhelmed, lean on me. I'm here for you. Nothing is going to change that," Maya told Andy and didn't wait for a reply before pulling her into a hug. She heard Andy sniffle, trying to hold in her tears but then felt her begin to sob and she closed her eyes. Maya hated that Andy was in so much pain.

It was 10 minutes later when Andy had been able to calm down and pulled back from Maya's embrace.

"I'm here for you, Andy. You'll never push me away. Got it?" Maya asked,

Andy wiped the tear tracks off her face and nodded. "Got it," Andy agreed.
