The morning air was crisp as Jisung made his way to REAL DREAMERS, a carefully packaged lunch in hand. He was eager to surprise Jaemin with a homemade meal, something to show his appreciation for all the support Jaemin had given him. As he entered the sleek lobby of the office building, his nerves buzzed with excitement.
At the reception desk, Mina, the receptionist known for her cheerful demeanor, greeted him with a bright smile. "Good morning, Jisung! Here to see Jaemin?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with a hint of playfulness.
"Yes, I brought him lunch," Jisung replied, returning her smile.
"That's so sweet! He's going to love that. Go right on up," Mina said, buzzing him through. As Jisung thanked her and headed towards the elevator, Mina's smile lingered, happy to see someone brightening Jaemin's usually hectic day.
Jisung's heart thumped in his chest with anticipation as he reached Jaemin's office door. Knocking softly, he heard Jaemin's voice inviting him in. Jaemin looked up from his work, his expression transforming into one of surprise and delight.
"Jisung! What brings you here?" Jaemin asked as he stood up, his eyes quickly noticing the lunch bag.
"I thought I'd bring you lunch. Just a little something to make your day easier," Jisung said, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement.
Jaemin's office was spacious and tastefully decorated, but it felt instantly warmer with Jisung's presence. He took the lunch bag and peered inside, his smile widening. "This looks amazing. Thank you, Jisung. You really didn't have to do this."
They settled into the small seating area in Jaemin's office. As they ate, they caught up on their recent activities and shared light, easy conversation. The connection between them felt as natural as ever, and Jisung found himself getting lost in the moment.
As they were wrapping up their meal, Jaemin looked at Jisung with a depth of affection that took Jisung's breath away. Driven by the moment, Jaemin leaned in closer, his gaze fixed on Jisung's lips. Heart racing, Jisung tilted his face upwards, their faces inches apart, the tension palpable.
Just as their lips were about to meet, the door swung open. Jeno walked in, his presence like a cold splash of water.
"Jaemin, have you seen the reports from—" Jeno started, then stopped abruptly as he took in the scene before him.
Jaemin quickly pulled back, a flush creeping up his neck. "Jisung was just leaving," he stammered, his voice tight with a mix of frustration and embarrassment.
Jisung's heart sank. The warmth of the moment vanished, replaced by a chilling sense of rejection. He stood abruptly, barely managing a strained smile. "Yes, I should get going. Thanks for sharing lunch, Jaemin."
As Jisung hurried out, his mind was a whirl of emotions. The cold reception from Jaemin in front of Jeno made him question the nature of their relationship. Was he just an obligation to Jaemin? The doubt gnawed at him, souring the sweet moments they had just shared.
Behind him, Jaemin watched Jisung leave, his expression one of regret and confusion. He hadn't meant to push Jisung away, especially not in front of Jeno. But the sudden interruption had caught him off guard, and his instinctive reaction was to protect their privacy—a choice he feared might have cost him Jisung's trust.
