as the morning sun seeped through the windows of the hotel, lucy was still stood on guard as bold as ever, the guard for the night shift hadn't showed up and she took over both shifts not wanting to leave kamala's room without a guard, especially after all that had occurred as of recent
it was usual for her to pull all nighters especially on duty, this was no new game to her
room services had arrived early that morning, assuming since the night kamala had, lucy assumed that she wasn't yet awake and sent them away for that moment
a few moments after, the door creaked open as kamala takes a glance out to see lucy still standing beside the door
"..goodmorning, Espinoza, -have you seen room services, they're normally earlier"
"Ah yes, I assumed you weren't yet awake so I sent them away, they'll be back in about an hour, is that okay or should I go get them?"
"No no that's okay, thank you"
with that, she goes back into her room and closes the door, lucy sighs and returns to her duty
later that day, kamala finally left her room, she signals lucy to follow her out into the vehicle as they both got into the backseat, two of the guards sat in the front seats
lucy whispers "where exactly are we going?"
"to meet my parents"
"what?!" lucy exclaimed, her voice still a whisper
"just relax, you're my bodyguard, I'll only be there for dinner, we don't have the best bond so I suggest you to keep out of private matters that would not concern you"
"okay? you owe me a day off, I just know this is going to be exhausting"
"of course, you'll have tomorrow off"
soon upon arrival, lucy steps out of the vehicle and opens the door for kamala but after stepping out, she mutters next to lucy
"also, never use formalities with my family around, no "Mrs.Harris" just "Yes ma'am, no ma'am" that's all you'll have to be saying for the entirety of the night, okay?"
"Yes ma'am"
"good, get used to it"
They both stepped into the building, lucy was a step behind to avoid assumptions, they were welcomed by butlers before soon after being greeted by kamala's family, the building was huge and well designed, after all they were wealthy people
none of them seemed to pay any mind to lucy which was exactly how they had hoped it would go but to her dismay she was soon addressed by kamala's family member to stay by the door where the rest of the guards were, she wanted to speak up on it but after glancing over at kamala and remembering her words she decided to go along with it
"Yes ma'am" lucy spoke as she made her way with the rest of the guards, seeing kamala's frown dissipate slowly and gave her a nod of approval
as the night went on, everything went as planned, kamala was sat by the dinner table having discussions with her family members, they seemed to be getting along pretty well but lucy couldn't stand the unsettling feeling she had just from being there
she grew more and more anxious in time but she knew kamala was safe, the entire building itself were surrounded by guards in every entrance, windows, doors, even the balcony, the guards were well dressed and seemed almost as if they were the prized decor of the house
kamala was out of site so lucy decided to leave for a slight moment, she needed a break from the awful feeling that the building alone gave off, she wandered into the nearby woods but not too far, close enough to hear the call outs of the guards back at the house
she noticed multiple chopped down trees, some newly cut and some that seemed to have been there for the longest while, she took a seat on an old oak tree stump and lit a cigarette, she took a deep inhale before catching a glimpse of her surroundings, she felt goosebumps rise on her arms as there was an unpleasant feeling that she was being watched from behind
she kept her hand on her glock and spun around to be met with a lean, well build young man, possibly in his late twenties, he had on a vest and a pants that seemed like it struggled to not fall to the floor at that very moment, he had a bottle of scotch in his right hand and the other held onto his belt
she looked at him with pure confusion unsure as to why he was there considering the entire block was private property, before she could've spoke, he angrily swung the bottle across her head, shattering it in the process, lucy held her head in agony while blood dripped down her forehead, she fainted.
waking up back moments later in her very same position as before, in the forest but the stranger was no where to be seen, she got up and felt her head, realizing the blood had already dried up
unsure of how long she's been passed out, she quickly made her way back to the vehicle and sat in the backseat, kamala hadn't yet left the family dinner which gave her time to come up with an excuse for the blood dripping from her forehead
the driver and the second guard were already in the car and fully aware of the situation, they knew kamala would get upset is she saw what had happened, they helped her clean the wound but there were still visible scars on his face
she sat back for a moment trying to ignore the headache she had from the dense glass shattering against her skull
the door to the vehicle opened and kamala stepped into the vehicle, she seemed more calm and at peace of mind then when she had arrived
while they drove off back to the apartment, kamala glared at lucy multiple times before finally speaking up
"what on earth happened to you?"
"don't worry about it, is my day off still active tomorrow?"
"of course
