Xie Feng's eyes snapped open, his heart racing as he realized Yueling was no longer in bed beside him. He sat up with a start, his gaze frantically scanning the room.
"Yueling?" he called out, his voice shaking with panic.
But there was no response.
Xie Feng threw off the covers and leapt out of bed, his feet pounding the floor as he rushed to the door. He flung it open, revealing a empty corridor beyond.
Just as he was about to step out into the hallway, a gentle voice spoke from behind him.
"Why are you awake? You should rest."
Xie Feng spun around, his eyes locking onto Yueling's smiling face. She stood in the doorway, a tray in her hands bearing a steaming teapot and two cups.
"I...I thought you were gone," Xie Feng stammered, his heart still racing.
Yueling's smile faltered, her eyes filling with concern. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you. I just went to get some tea."
Xie Feng's gaze dropped, his face flushing with embarrassment. "I'm sorry," he muttered. "I just...I couldn't find you."
Yueling's expression softened, and she set the tray down on a nearby table. "Come," she said, her voice gentle. "Let's have some tea together."
As they sipped their tea, Yueling's gaze turned resolute. "Xie Feng, I've been thinking... as the heir of the Phoenix Realm, I need to go there for training."
Xie Feng's eyes widened, his mind racing with the implications. "Training? What kind of training?"
Yueling's expression turned determined. "I need to learn to harness my powers, to master the ancient magic that flows through my veins. The Phoenix Realm is the only place where I can do that."
Xie Feng's grip on his cup tightened, his heart racing with concern. "But it's not safe. The Phoenix Realm is full of dangers, and you're still recovering from your ordeal."
Yueling's jaw set, her eyes flashing with determination. "I know the risks, Xie Feng. But I have to do this. I need to become strong enough to protect myself, to protect our realm, and to fulfill my destiny as the heir of the Phoenix Realm."
Xie Feng's face softened, his eyes filled with pride and admiration. "Then I'll come with you," he said, his voice firm. "We'll face whatever challenges lie ahead, together."
Just as Xie Feng and Yueling were about to depart, a figure emerged from the shadows, blocking their path. The Demon Emperor's eyes blazed with fury, his face twisted in a scowl.
"Where do you think you're going?" he growled, his voice like thunder.
Yueling stood tall, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm going to the Phoenix Realm for training," she said, her voice firm.
The Demon Emperor's expression darkened. "You're not going anywhere," he snarled. "You're still weak from your ordeal. And besides, I won't let you leave my side."
Xie Feng stepped forward, his eyes locked onto the Demon Emperor's. "She's made up her mind," he said, his voice steady. "And I'll be going with her."
The Demon Emperor's gaze snapped to Xie Feng, his eyes burning with anger. "You dare to defy me?" he roared.
Yueling's hand on Xie Feng's arm stayed him, her eyes pleading for calm. "Father, please understand-"
But the Demon Emperor's fury would not be swayed. "Guards!" he bellowed. "Take them into custody!"
The sound of approaching guards echoed through the air, their footsteps heavy and ominous. Xie Feng and Yueling exchanged a determined glance, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
Without hesitation, Xie Feng raised his hand, and a bolt of lightning crackled through the air, striking the ground mere feet away. The force of the blast sent smoke billowing up, enveloping them in a thick, white fog.
"Come on!" Xie Feng yelled, grabbing Yueling's hand and pulling her through the smoke.
The Demon Emperor's enraged roar echoed through the fog, but Xie Feng and Yueling didn't look back. They sprinted through the smoke, their footsteps masked by the chaos.
As they emerged on the other side, Xie Feng could see the gates of the palace looming ahead. They burst through them, out into the bright sunlight, and didn't stop running until they were sure they'd left the Demon Emperor's guards far behind.
Finally, they slowed to a stop, gasping for breath. Yueling turned to Xie Feng, her eyes shining with gratitude.
"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Xie Feng smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime," he said. "Now, let's get you to the Phoenix Realm."
As they arrived at the Phoenix Realm, Yueling's eyes widened in awe. The air was filled with a kaleidoscope of colors, and the sky seemed to burn with an inner fire. Majestic phoenixes soared overhead, their cries echoing through the land.
Xie Feng's gaze was fixed on Yueling, his eyes shining with pride. "Welcome to your true home," he said, his voice filled with emotion.
Yueling's face glowed with wonder. "It's beautiful," she breathed.
A figure emerged from the heart of the realm, an ancient phoenix with eyes that burned like stars. "Yueling, heir of the Phoenix Realm," the phoenix said, its voice like thunder. "We have been waiting for you."
Yueling's eyes locked onto the phoenix, her heart pounding with excitement. "I've come to claim my heritage," she said, her voice firm.
The ancient phoenix nodded its great head. "Then let us begin your training. The fate of the realms depends on it."
With that, Yueling's journey began, her destiny unfolding like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Xie Feng stood by her side, his love and support her rock in the trials to come.
