Yueling bowed again, her mind still reeling from the news. "I understand, Mother, Father. I will do my duty." Her parents nodded, satisfied, and turned to leave.
As they departed, a soft mewling sound came from behind a nearby screen. Out stepped a majestic white cat, its fur shimmering in the sunlight. The cat, named Yue, was Yueling's loyal companion and confidant.
Yue padded silently towards Yueling, rubbing against her legs. Yueling reached down, stroking the cat's soft fur, finding comfort in the familiar gesture. "Yue, I'm to be married to Prince Liwei of the Light Realm," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Yue meowed, as if offering her feline wisdom. Yueling smiled wistfully, wondering what the future held for her and her mysterious prince...
Just then, Yueling's younger brother, Prince Yun, burst into the room, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Yueling, Yueling, married to a prince from the Light Realm!" he teased, dancing around her. "What's it like to be engaged to a man you've never met?"
Yueling blushed, laughing despite herself. "Yun, stop it! It's not funny." But Yun continued to taunt her, enjoying the rare opportunity to tease his usually serene sister.
Yue, sensing Yueling's discomfort, arched her back and hissed at Yun, who merely chuckled and dodged the cat's swiping paw. "Oh, come on, Yueling! Don't be so serious. It's not every day our sister becomes a princess of the Light Realm!"
Yueling playfully rolled her eyes, trying to hide her own doubts and worries about the arranged marriage. "You'll understand when it's your turn to be married off, little brother," she teased back, trying to deflect his jokes...
Prince Liwei stormed into the main hall of the Light Realm, his face set in a determined expression. Emperor Tianyu, seated on his throne, looked up from the documents he was reviewing. "Liwei, what brings you here in such haste?"
"Father, I just received news of the marriage arrangement between myself and Princess Yueling of the Mortal World," Liwei said, his voice firm but controlled. "I request that you cancel the engagement immediately."
Emperor Tianyu's expression turned stern. "Liwei, you know as well as I do that this marriage is crucial for the balance of power between our realms. It cannot be simply canceled."
Liwei's eyes flashed with frustration. "But Father, I don't even know this princess! What if we're incompatible? What if...?"
The Emperor's voice rose, his words firm. "Enough, Liwei! You will do your duty to the Light Realm and marry Princess Yueling. There will be no further discussion on this matter."
Liwei's face fell, his heart heavy with resignation. He knew his father's word was law, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of unease about the arranged marriage...
Meanwhile, in a lush blossom forest, Princess Yueling sat perched high up in a tree, surrounded by vibrant pink and white flowers. She had escaped to this serene oasis to clear her mind and escape the pressures of her upcoming marriage. The warm sunlight filtered through the blossoms, casting dappled shadows on her face as she lazily plucked juicy fruits from the branches.
Yue, her faithful feline companion, lay sprawled across a nearby limb, watching Yueling with half-closed eyes. The sweet scent of blossoms and fresh fruit filled the air, and Yueling felt her worries slowly drift away with the gentle breeze.
As she sat there, lost in the tranquility of the forest, Yueling couldn't help but wonder about her future husband, Prince Liwei. What was he like? Would they find happiness together, or would their arranged marriage be a mere formality?
Yueling's thoughts were interrupted by the soft rustling of leaves. She glanced down to see a small, delicate bird perched on a nearby branch, watching her with bright, curious eyes...
As Yueling turned to gaze at the bird, her foot slipped on the smooth bark, and she felt herself falling. Time seemed to slow down as she realized she was about to plummet to the ground. But before she could even cry out, a strong hand grasped her wrist, pulling her back into the safety of the tree.
Yueling's heart racing, she turned to thank her rescuer, but her words died on her lips. A masked figure, dressed in dark, billowy clothing, stood beside her, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. For a fleeting moment, they locked gazes, and Yueling felt a shiver run down her spine.
Then, without a word, the masked figure released her wrist and leapt from the tree, disappearing into the underbrush with an eerie silence. Yueling stared after him, bewildered, as the bird took flight, vanishing into the blossoms.
Yue, who had been watching from a nearby branch, jumped down beside Yueling, rubbing against her leg reassuringly. But Yueling's mind was still reeling from the encounter. Who was that mysterious figure? And why did she feel an inexplicable connection to him?
