The Next Day

Sarada was in a good mood as she walked through the bustling streets of Konoha with Chocho by her side. The sun was shining, the air was warm, and she couldn’t help but feel a lightness in her heart. It was no wonder—she and Boruto were finally together. Though they had planned to meet today, she had already promised to hang out with Chocho. They agreed to catch up another time, and Sarada couldn’t wait.

As they browsed through a shop filled with colorful accessories, Chocho was busy picking out a few things to try on. Sarada, meanwhile, couldn’t stop thinking about Boruto. The memory of their kiss, his confession, and the way he held her close kept playing in her mind. She felt a soft blush rise to her cheeks just thinking about it.

“Sarada, are you even listening?” Chocho’s voice snapped her back to reality.

“Huh? Oh, sorry, Chocho. What were you saying?” Sarada asked, shaking her thoughts away.

“I said, does this bracelet look good on me?” Chocho repeated, holding up a cute beaded bracelet.

Sarada smiled. “Yeah, it suits you.”

Before Chocho could reply, She saw someone familiar. “Hey, Sumire!” Chocho waved excitedly as she spotted their friend walking by.

Sumire turned and smiled when she saw them. “Chocho! Sarada! It’s good to see you both.”

Sarada returned the smile, though she felt a slight pang of awkwardness. Sumire was always kind and sweet, but Sarada couldn’t forget that Sumire had feelings for Boruto. Now that she and Boruto were secretly together, it made her feel a bit uneasy around Sumire.

As Sumire approached, Chocho started chatting with her right away. “We’re just doing some shopping, having a girls’ day out. What about you?”

“I was just out picking up a few things,” Sumire replied, holding up a small shopping bag. “I’m actually free now, so I can join you if that’s okay.”

“Of course! The more, the merrier,” Chocho said enthusiastically, linking her arm with Sumire’s. “We’re going to check out that new store down the street. Come with us!”

Sumire nodded and fell into step beside them. As they walked, she turned to Sarada with a curious smile. “So, how was your mission? I heard you were with Boruto and Mitsuki.”

Sarada’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of Boruto. She tried to keep her expression neutral as she replied, “It was fine. Everything went smoothly.”

Sumire’s eyes brightened. “That’s good to hear. And how’s Boruto doing? He always seems to get into trouble, but he’s got a good heart.”

Sarada felt a flutter in her chest, but she quickly masked it with a casual smile. “Yeah, he’s doing well. Same old Boruto.”

Chocho, who had been eyeing a dress in a shop window, suddenly turned to Sumire with a grin. “You’ve always had a soft spot for Boruto, haven’t you, Sumire?”

Sumire blushed lightly, but she nodded with a shy smile. “Well, he’s always been kind to me. I admire him a lot.”

Sarada felt a little knot form in her stomach. It wasn’t jealousy, exactly—more like the realization that she and Boruto’s relationship was still a secret, and here was Sumire, completely unaware of the shift in their dynamic. She didn’t want to hurt Sumire, and the idea of telling her about their relationship now made her feel awkward.

But she knew that someday, she’d have to be honest with her. Sarada made a mental note to talk to Sumire privately when the time was right. For now, she would keep things as they were.
