A loud laugh escapes his lips as he splashes me with water, effectively getting me wet.
"Zach!" I growled, marching my way closer to the stream before crouching beside it, waiting for that jerk to come up. I had to be prepared though. I had a feeling he'd come at with me more water.
Too late.
His head popped up just as another splash came, getting me more wet than I already was. Another laugh escapes his lips as I shrug out of my jacket, kicking off my shoes and laying them beside his clothes in hopes for them to get dry.
"There's nothing in the water." He assures me causing me to scoff as he dives back underneath, leaving me alone in peace. I sit by the bank, dipping my feet into the water before closing my eyes, feeling the cool breeze blow gently around me. It's a been awhile since I've been this relaxed. Given that I was an intern, it didn't give me enough time to hang out with my friends or get a proper relationship or even have a proper social life. I didn't even go on vacations. When I had my free time, it would always be researching on the latest discoveries or catching up with school. I was the perfect definition of a nerd.
Then now, I couldn't relax given the fact that we were lost; in a jungle. Have I mentioned before that there were dinosaurs? Yet, here was my so-called "protector" trying to get me to loosen up and swim with him in a stream with god knows what. I was not taking my chances in a place I don't know.
My eyes flew open as I felt something wet grab my foot. "Zach." I scold again earning a cheeky grin. "There's nothing in the water. I've checked thousands of times now. Besides, I wouldn't let anything hurt you." He said causing me to sigh as his hand gently rubs my foot. "Look, whether or not I want to get into the water, I won't. One of them being that I don't have anything to wear." I replied, carefully trying to not to eye his naked torso that was so visible through the clear blue water. He rolls his eyes as his hands stretch up to hold me by my knee caps. "Just wear your underwear. Then, when we're drying, I can lend you my t-shirt so that you're not exposed. Deal?" He counters, his brown eyes silently pleading me to hurry up and just get in. A loud sigh escapes my lips as I nod causing him to grin, letting me go to let me get dressed.
"No peeking!" I warn him earning a chuckle before he dives back underneath the water. I stand up and move a few feet away from the stream before turning my back on it and pulling my tank top over my head. I pulled down my leggings, folding both articles of clothing then placing them beside his. I turn back towards the bank to see his back already turned around. "Done yet?" He asks causing me to grin as I make a mad dash towards the stream and jumping into it.
The coldness of the water immediately causes me to resurface, finding myself face to face with a grinning Zach Mitchell. "Nice undies."He teases causing my cheeks to redden as I splash water to his face with one hand, the other barely covering my black bra. His hand catches my wrist before I could splash water again, his other hand gently rubbing my arm. "Cecily," He whispers, his hand moving downwards from my arm towards my waist, pulling my closer to him. I raise an eyebrow at him as he presses his forehead against mine, his breathing uneven as he brings my hand to his heart. "Feel it." He murmurs, placing his hand over my own causing me to simply do as he says; feel it. His heart was beating faster than an average person's heart would; probably due to all the swimming around he had done in the past few minutes. I don't believe that I would ever be the reason why someone's heart was beating fast. Why should I? I was Cecily Grey, certified nerd and intern, one day wanting to become a scientist that studied dinosaurs. There was nothing special about that. Yet, I see the way his eyes shine every time I link our hands together or the way he looks away, trying to hide a blush whenever I give his cheek a quick peck. I was special to Zach, the same way he was slowly but surely becoming special to me.
