Chapter 2

Nico already hated this, and he and Will hadn't even left camp yet.

Will had a couple of bags and he sighed as he grabbed a golden drachma from one of his bags. Nico had a couple of bags with clothes too, but he didn't have as much as Will did. Nico bit his lower lip, fiddling with a ring around his finger.

Will stood up and he smiled as he held up the golden drachma.
"Alright, time to call for a taxi!" Will exclaimed.
Will was about to throw the golden drachma but Nico quickly placed his hands over Will's.
"Wait!" Nico exclaimed, feeling the anxiety rise in his chest.
Nico felt like he was going to have a panic attack.

Will frowned as he looked at Nico, noticing he was ready to panic.
"Hey, deep breaths." Will said, taking his free hand and gently placing it on Nico's shoulder, rubbing it gently. "Deep breaths, just talk to me, Neeks."
Nico took a deep breath and he swallowed.

"I- This was a mistake. I'm just going to stay and-" Nico began, about to turn away and just leave.
Will gently squeezed Nico's shoulder, making Nico stay.
"Relax, would you? I can't let you spend Christmas with Mr.D and Chiron." Will said softly. "I mean, Nico, you should spend it around people who care about you and love you. Platonically, of course!"
Nico looked at Will, his cheeks warming up as Will mentioned love. Will's cheeks also seemed a bit pink.

"... Mr.D cares about me-" Nico began.
"Nico, it's still sorta sad to spend Christmas with him." Will added. "... I mean, it'd make sense for his kids to spend Christmas with him, but-"
"Okay, okay, I get it." Nico mumbled.

Will kept his gaze on Nico as Nico glanced away.
"... I'm just nervous to spend time with your family, Will. I mean... It's been a while since I spent Christmas with people. I mean, the last time I spent Christmas with someone was probably in the 1940s or something." Nico said.
Will hummed.

"I assure you, my family will love you. Or well, they won't mind your presence. I'm sure my younger cousins will adore you and... it's gonna be fine. I promise. And if it gets too much, even though I hate you using your powers, I will allow you to shadow travel back to camp, as long as you say goodbye to me and my mom before leaving." Will said.

Nico raised his eyebrows at Will.
"... Really?" Nico questioned.
Will nodded. Nico let out a soft sigh and he smiled at Will, taking his hand away from Will's hand.
"Alright... We should get going."
Will smiled. "Awesome!"

Will threw the golden drachma and as he threw it, he called out, "Stêthi 'Ô hárma diabolês!"
Within seconds, the taxi came and Will grinned at Nico. Nico took a deep breath as he grabbed his bags and Will also grabbed his bags. Will opened up the back of the taxi and he let Nico enter first. Nico didn't pay attention to the three sisters, letting Will deal with them once he entered the taxi and sat down.

Will managed to tell them their destination and off they went. Nico gulped and he looked down at his hands, fiddling with the skull ring around his finger.

Nico was definitely still anxious about going to Texas and spending the Christmas with Will's family. Nico glanced over at Will who seemed to be smiling to himself as he leaned back in the seat comfortably. Nico felt his nerves ease when he saw Will's smile.

Nico took a deep breath and he shut his eyes as he crossed his arms, deciding to relax for a few moments until they got to Texas.

This would be okay. Everything was going to be okay.
