My head pounded against my skull. I was sure that it would crack open at any second. I shivered, noticing I was on a cold hard surfaced. Once I pushed my eyes open everything was a blur until a beautiful set of mahogany eyes appeared before my own.
I rolled onto my back and pushed myself up with my elbows. I was outside the school, laying on the sidewalk.
"Finally, you're up." My eyes shot to Mason. He was sitting in the parking lot area beside the sidewalk. He sat on his rear with his knees propped up and his arms resting on them.
"What happened?" I asked even though a remembered every detail of what happened to me. I was brutally smacked against the cafeteria floor in front of the entire grade.
"You took quite the ass whooping from Alice." He said with a chuckle.
"Why am I outside?" I asked worried. I suddenly realized that I was outside my school after hours with Mason Lock. A bully, womanizer, trouble maker and extreme badass.
"Well, me being the gentleman that I am," He started off with a wink. "I figured if I didn't get you out you would die in the cafeteria. That wouldn't look very good on a grave stone, now would it?"
I shook my head, not finding his joke a tad bit funny.
Thats when I noticed the sky. It was fading from a dark blue to a purplish color. Signalling that night was coming soon.
Mason must've noticed I was staring at the sky and spoke up. " It's almost 7:00. I should get you home.
"Holy crab cakes. I was out for 5 hours?" I was in disbelief. Had Mason been waiting for me to wake up for five hours?
"Thank you." I said trying to ignore the fact that he had to have picked me up to get me out here. Just thinking about my skin touching somebody else's made me shiver. Not in disgust, but fear.
Mason threw me a smile and stood up from the pavement.
He bent down and held his hand out for me to grab.
I gulped and stood up, ignoring his hand. It dropped to his side and he frowned.
"I guess you didn't need it." He said sadly.
I felt bad. He had maybe just saved my life and I couldn't even touch him.
"I have a dis... disorder." I was unsure what to call it.
Every doctor I went to had no answer as to why I feared physical contact which made me even more upset. It made me think that there was some stupid thing wrong with me that nobody else had. I felt like an odd ball.He gave me a confused look, slightly tilting his head to the side. "What?" He asked, curiosity in his eyes.
"I uhmm... I don't like to be touched." I explained.
His head was still cocked to one side. "Why?" He pushed for a full answer.
"I-I'm just scared of physical contact." I felt like a fool as I spoke the words. They barely came out of my mouth because I feared he'd burst out in laughter, any second now.
But instead, he spoke the famous question everybody asked when they found out. " Why?" He asked. His eyebrows pushed together in confusion.
I shifted so that my legs were crossed at the ankles and crossed my arms. " I don't know." I shifted my wait uncomfortably. I was regretting telling him. I just knew that since he knew it would be used against me. He was Mason Lock, after all.
"Let me help. " he said with a smile.
I gave him a curious look. Why would he want to help me? What the heck was wrong with him? "He has to be pulling my leg. I'm being punk'd."
