Imagine the perfect autumn day when you finally start 8th grade. A light breeze sways through your silky long hair as the bright orange leaves delicately fall on the slightly damp concrete. You're walking down a deserted road of your small town with a backpack swung over a shoulder that bounces up and down each step you take. Like your any typical day, you pop in some earbuds listening to your favorite playlist full of the hottest artists and read the latest Teen Vogue as you drool over your celebrity crush. Not paying attention to your surroundings, you suddenly see a figure coming up from the other side of the road. You imagine it's that cute guy at the mall who folds clothes at Abercrombie that you just can't keep your eyes off of. You hated that store but you'd always wind up there every week admiring his sharp jawline, sea green eyes and tanned muscles. Caught up in the moment, you snap back to reality only to find that it's that weird guy in your grade pretending to be a wizard from Hogwarts. He swings around a tree stick pretending it's a wand shouting out ridiculous words. You wonder what he's thinking about in his head. How could somebody believe in this nonsense magic. The Abercrombie guy would probably agree with me. Magic to you was easily fake, a myth. Well, think again. Riley Thompson was this average teen, until she met a world that turned her upside down.

Riley's POVMy new life didn't go as planned, and it certainly didn't include anything about a life threatening event with a deadly pirate.

"Please, just leave her alone!" I shout as hot tears run down my face. My little sister was tied onto a wooden pole, moments away from death. Tightly held against her neck, a sharp metal knife held by Captain Hook. I couldn't bare to watch, I had to do something. "I'm begging you, don't kill her, kill me instead, I'll do anything, just let her go!" I sobber. "Whats that you say? Anything?"Hook smirks. I slowly nod in fear. " Well, there is something rather...dirty that I was planning on doing myself..." "Riley, you don't have to do this! I'll sacrifice myself. You always fought through everything for me, and now it's my turn." my sister, Elizabeth manages to whimper with the sharp metal to her throat. "Shut your mouth little one, or your sister isn't going to have a choice!" Hook harshly shouts in Elizabeth's face. Sweat beats down my forehead and my stomach does a flip. I'm just an orphan, my sister is my only family left, I can't risk losing her. "I'll take whatever you're going to offer, but on one condition. My sister must be freed and you can never lay your dirty little hands on her ever again!" I say with rage. "You got a deal... But you can't come back whining to me that you change your mind." Hook replies. "Whatever, now just tell me all the shit I need to do and this can all be done with." He digs his hand into his long leather coat and takes out a peculiar curvy dagger. " Today's the day I finally get my revenge on that bloody crocodile." He says under his breath with a grin. " I want you to do to a little shop called Mr Golds Pawnbrokers. You see, this shop may seem nice and welcoming, but really, what lies inside is death and darkness. Never underestimate the town of Storybrooke" Hook explains circling around me. Death and darkness? What is this town? I mean, I know all about the fairy tales living here, but death? Really, where's the happy Heroes that save the day? "You see this dagger?" He says letting me take a brief look. " It's more than you can imagine, it's unpredictable. I want you find the little shop I was just telling you about and ask for Mr gold. Then, all I want, is for you to take this very dagger, and kill him with it. And it must be with the dagger, nothing else. " He calmly says handing me the dagger. "You...You want me to kill someone?" I hesitantly ask in shock. "Do you want your sister or not?" Hook impatiently answers. I was not going to let Elizabeth die at 7 years young, especially when her birthday was right around the corner. When we became orphans, I promised her that I'd fight through anything for us to be together no matter what. "So what do you say?" He asks. I gripped my sweaty hands on the dagger's handle and took I deep breath." I'll do it"

As I hop off the Jolly Roger I examine the dagger. Engraved in charcoal black was the name Rumplestitskin. Surrounding the name was a floral design with the same charcoal black. I brushed my hand across the cold metal. The side were bumpy and the point was like a needle. As I walk along the streets of the small town of Storybrooke I see cute little vintage shops and happy people, things that I've never seen in a long time. It's nice to breathe fresh air and walk on concrete grounds. Looking around, I spot Mr gold's pawnbroker, the little building Hook told me about. How could this little shop be full of darkness? Approaching the blue building, I think about how my mother, who had passed away, always told me that killing had no place in my life. Her stories haunted me during the night and her quote has been engraved in my brain for years "if you kill one, you don't deserve to live" I hated to know I had to kill someone, but I'm saving Elizabeth, and if I don't, she'll die and it'll haunt me for eternity. As I arrived at the shop, I hide the dagger into the inside pocket of my jacket. Swinging open the door, a little bell rang from above my head startling me. Inside were millions of antiques: dolls, statues, toys, anything you can imagine. Everything seem ancient. At the front stood an old man with wavy brown and gray hair in a navy blue suit. He didn't look like any fairy tale character, though from hook said, I'm guessing he's a villain. "May I help you?" The man politely asks. "Uh...yeah, I was looking for mr gold." I nervously asks."That would be me" the man replies with a smiles. Great, I have to kill a poor innocent old man that already seemed to be pretty nice. My palms started to sweat as my heart thumped out of my chest. I've never killed anybody or even hurt anyone, well at least not on purpose. What am I suppose to do? How do I kill someone, just jab the knife in him or something? I should have watched those horror movies with my friends, then I'd be an expert at killing(not that I would have wanted to be a serial killer). Sweat awkwardly beats down my forehead. He must be thinking I have a sweating problem. He better not have some super senses sensing that I want to kill him. "Uhhhh...I'm looking for a...necklace. It has a gold locket. I lost it in the enchanted forest."I ask making sure I don't seem suspicious. "Ah, I'm sure I have it!" Mr gold says bending down to reach for something in a dusty brown cabinet. Without thinking, I swiftly pull the dagger out of my jacket and jab it into the man's back. I feel so guilty right now and I just want to turn myself in to the cops. I had to stay strong and fight my way past the guilt. He lets out a little scream of pain then collapses on the hardwood floor with a thud. A puddle of thick blood forms beneath him. I took the life of a man. "Rumple, is everything all right?" I hear a women's voice with an Australian accent for the back room. Shit! There's someone else here! I quickly remove the bloody dagger from the man's back and sprint as far as I can refusing to look back. The women in the shop had said Rumple, could that have been Rumplestilskin? The Rumplestiltskin on the dagger! Wait, who names their kid Rumplestiltskin? I stop running when I get to the forest a few meters away fromt the Leaving Storybrooke sign. I quickly spot a large mossy log to sit behind and catch my breath to rethink everything that just happened. I can't believe I just killed someone. I'm a murderer now, i can't redo anything that just happened. I leaned my back against the log as boy's welcoming voice startled me."Hey." I had been such a mess that I didn't realise that beside me sat a boy around my age, with shaggy brown hair, hazel brown eyes and a large brown book in his lap."Um, hi." I say trying be natural with a bloody dagger in my hand. "I've never seen you around at school, but anyways, I'm Henry." He joyfully introduces himself. " I'm Riley" I causally say. " Don't mean to be nosey, but what's that in your hand?" Henry curiously asks. I open my bloody palm to reveal the dagger ."Uh... Nothing much, just a odd shaped knife with fake blood that Captain Hook gave me. " I awkwardly answer. I took another glance at the dagger, but this time I realized something was different. Something was very wrong. It no longer said Rumplestilskin. Instead, in big black letters, it said my name, Riley Thompson.
