Nick got to Alec's closed door and froze, was this going to end well? He had no idea. But he was willing to take the risk, and knocked on his door gently.

"...Alec?"

"Alec? You asleep or something?"

After a while of waiting, Nick gave up and returned to his room, even more upset than before.

*Alec POV*

He's at the door. He's at the door. HE'S AT THE FUCKING DOOR. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY?? I'VE HAD LIKE 5 GLASSES OF WINE AT THIS POINT!!

After a while of...whatever that panic was...When I heard footsteps finally trailing away from my door, I assumed it was Nick and breathed a sigh of relief, and a mix of guilt too. Did that Upset him? Or is he ok? Or is he really angry at me!? I'm overreacting. Yeah. I'm overreacting...hopefully. I could feel my breaths get a bit quicker the longer I thought about any of this, so I tried to brush it all off by reading a book. That worked. ...For 5 minutes...Well what am I supposed to do!? I shouldn't care. Right? He's just a stupid man. I don't care. For anyone...that much...is it that bad? No. No no no no no. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care and I never will. End of story.

...Atleast that's what I tried telling myself.

*Nick POV*

Well...that was...it hurt, to say the least, but I'm not giving up yet. I can't give up on him, or- us, for that matter. Ew, that was really cheesy. ANYWAY. He's probably just not in the mood to talk, he must be upset too right? It'll all be ok in a few days...!

No it won't.

Yes it will! Ugh, Battling negative thoughts is tiring, But whatever, I'm going to keep trying! He'll talk to me eventually!

It's pointless.

No it's not! Shut up random thought! Oh God am I going crazy? Or is this just me being Indecisive? This sucks!! But my positivity can push through-

Yes it can!! And it will!! I will keep trying, no matter if I believe it will work or not! I have to try!

*Irl 3rd person* (🔵 = Nick, 📖 = Alec)

And it was exactly that which happened over the next few days, Nick kept trying, holding his head high every time, and with no replies from Alec at all, it was an entire 5 days before Nick finally got his chance. Alec was in his room, but had forgotten to lock his door.

When Nick realised this he immediately opened Alec's door, or rather, literally swung it open and shouted at him.

🔵 "HEYYYY!!!"

Alec had a book in hand, and a glass of wine on his bedside table, he was sitting on his bed and scrambled back at the sound of Nick's loud shout and the door being slammed open.

📖 "Huh!? ...Oh. What do you want?"

🔵 "Ha! Did I scare you?"

📖 "If you came to annoy me then leave."

Nick instantly changed his tone of voice to be a bit more serious after hearing that.

🔵 "No no no! I just...came to see if you were alright...?"

📖 "I'm fine."

🔵 "With 7 wine glasses in here? I doubt that..."

📖 "...Get out."

🔵 "Nope!"

📖 "Why!?"

Nick chuckled at the fact that Alec wanted him to leave so badly, obviously a little tipsy from the wine and also not wanting to bring up their recent incident.

🔵 "Calm down! I just wanna talk to you! About...you know...?"

📖 "If you're saying it's over I know."

Nick was so taken aback by Alec's blunt statement that he actually stumbled a little. He didn't want their relationship to be over, not at all, Alec had misunderstood. But the fact that Alec didn't seem to care stung his heart a bit.

🔵 "I didn't say that at all! You're not understanding properly!! But...would you really not care if it was over?"

📖 "Of course I'd care."

🔵 "Doesn't look like it."

📖 "Well I would. That's it. Can you leave now?"

🔵 "No!! I'm here to have a proper conversation this time!!"

📖 "And I don't want to. That's it. Now get out."

🔵 "Not until we fix things-!"

📖 "GET OUT NICK!! OUT OF MY ROOM, NOW!!"

🔵 "But—''

📖 "NOW!!"

Flabbergasted, confused, and extremely hurt, Nick went to leave, meeting Alec's eyes before he turned away, seeing the guilt in his eyes before Alec redirected his gaze elsewhere.

📖 "...Wait."

A smirk appeared on Nick's face as he turned around again to face Alec.

🔵 "Yessss~?"

Alec reluctantly carried on talking, knowing Nick would tease him eventually.

📖 "Fine. Let's sort this out, ok? And- Uh- 𝑺𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚, for shouting..."

🔵 "You're forgiven if you talk to me!"

📖 "Alright."
