CHAPTER NINE - Blackwood Brother's

She,

I Froze...!

When I sensed his eyes returning to meet mine, I instinctively sat down in the chair behind the standing crowd.

I saw his figure disappearing from the hall. I returned to my cabin deeply upset. His familiar, flashing eyes were disturbing, but I was angry with myself for hiding like a thief.

Clearly, I haven't done anything to act this way. I tried to figure out what is wrong with me but left with no answers that disturbs me a lot.

It was almost lunchtime, so I decided to go outside to relax. I took the stairs all the way down from the 5th floor. I was looking for the receptionist guy to treat him for lunch.

I cursed myself, realizing I had forgotten to ask his name even though we had met thrice. I found him at the entrance, he noticed me, and we smiled and waved at each other.

We went to the restaurant near the office; it looked neat and impressive. We settled at a two seated table and ordered our favorite dishes.

"Well, how's your day", he asked.

"It was good so far", I replied with little hesitation.

"Don't worry, it's going to be crazy", he said with a playful grin. If he said that to console me, it didn't even give me a bit of peace, especially connecting with today's incident.

I asked offended, "Why did you say that?"

He chuckled and said, "I was just kidding. You will be alright as long as you don't cross our boss's way". And, that caught my attention.

"How is the boss? Is he nice?" I asked.

"Nice?" he repeated after me and laughed hard. "Glad, you didn't ask if he's cute", he mocked me.

"Don't tell me, you haven't heard about Blackwood brothers", he said with raised eyebrows.

I said with a soft and confused, "No".

"Little lady, you should have done some ground checks before working for the Blackwood's, at least to protect yourself. Since you're dumb, let me help you", he said and continuing.

I shot him a threatening look for calling me dumb but chose to ignore it and listen keenly, the information should be worth build-up or else I will kill him.

"The Blackwood brothers, they are three of them, the three most dangerous. BB industries is famous worldwide and these three are well educated; they built their business empire entirely on their own. They handle their business decently in front of the public world, but it is rumored that they run underground network with their own cruel methods. You only met one brother today; the other two were staying in abroad, managing their international businesses. And guess what, I heard a gossip that those two brothers are returning soon. I am not sure what changes we might face in the office, so be more cautious".

I visibly gulped as if I were hearing a ghost story. He laughed loudly, mocking my reaction. I threw a tissue on his face, seems like he had been making fun of me all this time, those kinds of stories only exist in movies and books, don't they?

I sighed and said, "Stop making fun of me".

He became serious and replied, "Hey dummy, I wasn't making fun of you. I laughed at your reaction, but whatever I said was entirely true". He continued....

"Don't worry, the best way to survive in this company is to focus on your assigned job and not be curious beyond your limit, everything will be okay".

I was lost in deep thought, remembering today's incident. He's right, if I just concentrate on my assigned job, everything would be perfect.

Isn't it...?

Shaking off my overwhelming thought, I asked, "What's your name?"

He chuckled and replied, "Finally, my name is David".
