Katelyn's POV

Someone at the door knocks, making me look up, and I remove my reading glasses. I then sit back from my desk with my paperwork, leaning on my seat deciding if I should even let them enter.

After some careful consideration I answer. “You may enter.”

A soldier with blue and silver uniform enters. He seemed slightly timid as he walked in. “It's sunset m'lady.”

I wave a hand of dismissal and he leaves, closing the door behind him. I then stand up and sigh.

Ever since I arrived, I only had the intention to stay to finish my investigation. But the day that I met Lord Aphmau, I have not dared to leave my ship or leave the docks. It has been at least two weeks since I left, and I have already received multiple communication pulses from my wristband, as well many of my soldiers have asked when we would return. I know Zane is suspicious of me by now, but I don't care. I will never work for a man who kills the people I care for so deeply.

Something about lady Aphmau has caught my attention, I do not know what it is; but I plan to figure it out eventually. I begin to walk to my door, feeling slightly nervous as I reach for my handle. It was odd for me to get invited to a dinner, mostly because I have always intimidated anyone by my looks and reputation. and because of it, I never considered having relationships. So knowing I am going to a dinner to get closer with people unsettles me.

I make my way off the boat, letting my crew members know I'll be out for a few hours on a confidential meeting. Halfway to her house, I can already see many of her residents already trying to avoid me, some gave me a panicked look while others looked more disgusted at me. I have grown accustomed to these looks, so I feel unbothered by them. I arrive at her door steps, and I knock, waiting patiently until an elf with blonde hair opens the door. She stared at me, rather confused and interested then fearful; then with a smile, she stepped to the side.

“Welcome, lady Katelyn. Please come in! Lord Aphmau is upstairs with her kids.” The elf says, smiling.

I give her a smile, trying to look more presentable to the women and I step inside. She leads me to the dining table and a loud slam is heard. The elf ears perk up and I look to the direction, and to my surprise I find two little boys running downstairs giggling. They run into each other when they find me, and I smile.

The two stare at me, and the one with blonde hair smiles, running up to me.

“Blue lady!” The little one says, smiling as they lift up their arms.

“Levin! Be careful, you don't know her!” The one with brown hair said, seeming more mentally mature.

“Malachi, it's okay. She has good intentions.” The elf said, walking up to the boy who was near me, picking him up.

Heavy footsteps are heard and with a sudden rush, I could see Aphmau running down the stairs panicked. She then sees me and she stands properly, trying to seem more presentable in her panicked situation.

“L-lady Katelyn..  you're here! I-i didn't notice the time pass.” She said, taken aback.

“I am.. did I come too early?” I ask her, seeing her situation.

“No no! These boys just distracted me for a while.. I didn't notice the time.” She fixes up her hair, trying to seem calm.

“Laurence, Garroth and Dante should be here any minute now. All we can do now is wait.” She mentioned, slowly walking up to the dining table.

“I'll take the boys upstairs for a little bit. I'll be back.” The elf said, taking both of the kids upstairs.

“Thanks, Zoey.. take your time, I know they will be a little energetic still.” Aphmau said, smiling.
