Seliel:

I've really gotten to know Cole these past few weeks, and I find him hot and all, but I'm not jealous of his girlfriend.

Sure, they spend a lot of time together and go on dates, but I honestly just feel bad for her.

Poor Nya doesn't realize Cole was just trying to impress his old friends.

Sure, he's not hanging out with those assholes anymore, but he's gotten himself in too deep.

He shouldn't date someone he doesn't take seriously without knowing how to break up.

Or even at all.

I'm glad that he's hanging out with my group now because, honestly, the stupidity.

And Nya doesn't even know.

I've been trying to help Cole out with breaking it to her gently, but every time, he just gives up.

So now I'm standing outside his door, pen and paper in hand, and I'm going to force him to write a letter.

I knock on the door, hoping he's home.

After a few seconds, he lets me in, and I drag his sorry ass over to the table.

I plop him down on a chair and slam the paper and pen in his face.

"I'm going to feed you words, and you're going to write them." I have to put the pen in his hands.

"Sel, why are you helping me out with this? I didn't ask you for help."

"Nya doesn't deserve this, and quite frankly, the sooner it's done with, the better." I tap the paper impatiently. "Dear Nya," I say, I say each word slowly to give him time to write it on the page. "I wish I didn't have to say this, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry because you deserve better than me, and I'm sorry because I messed up. I never should have started things between us. I hope you can find better, regretfully, Cole."

I take the paper and fold it neatly.

"See? That wasn't so hard." I say, poking his forehead when he got up.

"Easy for you to say. You're not the one that's going to be murdered."

"Nya won't kill you." I roll my eyes. He gets his flair for dramatics from Lou.

"No, she'll leave me suffering. Kai will finish the job."

"Who is Kai?"

"Her brother."

I nod.

Cole:

"We should do something." She looked up at me.

"Oh yeah? Like what? My dad took the car."

Her pink hair had a blue highlight in it, and it was in a braid.

"Does that mean you can't walk?"

"That depends. What would we be doing? For the right reasons, I'd be down. You know, cake?"

She rolls her eyes. "If you want cake that badly, fine. But fresh air is good for you, you know?"

She grabs my arm and pulls me out the door, down the stairs, and to the sidewalk.

"Where can we even get cake?" I ask her when she finally releases me.

She shrugs.

"You mean... There's not gonna be CAKE?!" My random outburst earns me stares from people wandering around.

Seliel facepalms. "Not everything is about cake."

I sigh. "And that's the issue with the world. Where are we even going?"

She sighs. "I don't know. But you spend all your time inside. You're missing out on a whole world out here!"

"I look up at the sky, and it's still blue. I look at the ground, and it's still green."

"What, were you expecting it to be orange?" She punches my arm, not lightly, mind you, but me being the manly man I am, decided to let it slide.

Not.

"Ouch! Sel, what was that for?" I rub the side of my arm.

"For messing with Nya. Out of all the girls you could've dated, you should've picked one that you were actually interested in."

"I'm sorry." I say quietly. Because we both know that I could've had the girl I was interested in if I hadn't wasted my time impressing a bunch of shitheads.

She stops me and puts a hand over my cheek, my skin tingling from the touch. "I know." She says softly.

The thing about Seliel is that she knows that she's the one I want. And I only hope she wants me, too. But after the way I treated Nya... I don't know that I deserve her.

"Hey, Sel?" I say, my voice low as our faces are pulled magnetically closer.

"Yes?" Her hand slides from my cheek to the back of my neck, and her gaze keeps flickering to my lips.

"Is it bad that I want to kiss you right now?" I ask, looking into her eyes.

Our faces are close enough that our noses could touch.

"Probably, but I don't care." She says, leaning in and closing the gap between our lips.

My eyelids flutter shut, and my lips melt against hers.

At that moment, I forgot about Nya, my family, where we are, and the strangers that are probably wondering what the heck were doing, kissing on the sidewalk.

It was just us.
