MeanwhileI ran through the town, my footsteps echoing against the streets. I didn't know where l was going, or what I was gonna do after.
My heart pounded in my chest, the air getting in my lungs as I just kept moving. At that moment I didn't care if there were people around looking at me weirdly or anything. I just needed to keep moving.
But eventually, my legs started to become weak, and my pace slowed. I came to a stop, bending over with my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath.
"Damn.." I said, breathlessly wiping the sweat off my forehead.
My chest was rising and falling heavily as I fought to steady myself . Sweat dripping down my Face still, mixing with the tears I didn't even realize I was shedding right now.
I probably looked funny and Dishevelled as hell.
As I stood there, my eyes closed, trying to calm my nerves and collect my thoughts, as I then felt something soft brush touch between my legs.
"Huh..?"
I looked down to see a white cat, gently rubbing its body against my legs, purring softly.
It threw me off quite a bit, with mix of my troubled mind, there was a cat rubbing itself against my legs. I looked down, puzzled, gazing at it because I never had this experience before. I really didn't have any animals rub themselves against me at all.
It was comforting in a way, distracting me from the turmoil happening inside of me.
I Just looked down at the small cat. It was white with sparkling, cute green eyes, purring and meowing quietly like it wanted some attention from me.
I slowly reached down, carefully looking at the little cat that looked so young and adorable. Surprisingly, it didn't attack me or anything like that. I was fully aware of cats trying to scratch people or bite them.
That thought took me back home a bit. Back when I was at home, there was a cat around my neighborhood that always wanted to scratch me and hiss at me or anyone, for that matter.
So seeing this happen surprised me in many ways. The cat was clean. It didn't look like a dirty cat from the streets, it looked like it was well taken care of.
I looked at the cat, slightly smiling, feeling a bit of softness washing over me as I spoke in a gentle tone, "Hey there, little one, what's your name?" I wrapped my arms around the cat like I was holding a baby and started to brush her back with my fingers gently.
The cat purred softly, clearly enjoying the attention it was getting right now.
As I ran my fingers down the cat's back, a sudden hand on my shoulder made me jump. "Hey ma'am, have you happened to see a white cat— OH! Whiskers!" He said, smiling at the cat happy to find it.
He quickly yanked the cat from my hand and he embraced the cat hugging it and rubbing his face on the cat's face. "Oh thank god! I thought I lost you forever!" He said, clearly very happy to find his cat.
The cat, now known as Whiskers, rolled her eyes at her owner but didn't do anything about it.
I awkwardly stood there, looking to the side, then back at him. He had dark eyes, wore glasses, and was carrying a bag that looked like it had books in it. He looked like a nerd-a bookish guy. He was too lost in embracing his cat right now.
Kinda cute.
The guy cleared his throat, seeming a bit nervous. "Uh, you are Sierra, right?" He adjusted his glasses, a hint of awkwardness in his voice as he tried to make the introduction less uncomfortable.
