The steady hum of the city provided a comforting background as I made my way to Mia's apartment It was late in the afternoon, the sun dipping low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the streets
I had texted Mia earlier, asking if we could meet up she'd responded almost immediately, suggesting we hang out at her place
As always, Mia was quick to offer a safe space for me, no matter what was happening in our lives
I needed this I needed to talk, to unpack everything that had happened over the past few days My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts Rebecca, our newfound relationship, and the feelings I hadn't yet fully processed
Mia had always been the person I turned to when things felt overwhelming, and today was no different
When I arrived at her building, I was greeted by the familiar sight of her cozy apartment complex. The place had always felt like an oasis in the middle of the city quiet, calm, and welcoming
I made my way up the stairs and knocked on her door, feeling a wave of nervousness settle in my chest
Within moments, the door swung open, and Mia stood there with a warm smile on her face. "Emma! Come on in."
I stepped inside, instantly enveloped by the comforting atmosphere of her apartment, the scent of freshly brewed tea filled the air, and the soft lighting created a sense of calm that I desperately needed
Mia led me to the living room, where she had already set up a tray with two mugs of tea and a plate of cookies
She always had a way of making everything feel cozy and welcoming, no matter what was going on in the world outside
"Sit," she said, gesturing to the couch. "I made us some tea I figured we could use a little break from reality."
I smiled, grateful for her thoughtfulness, and settled onto the couch she sat beside me, curling her legs up underneath her as she handed me a mug
"Thanks," I said softly, taking a sip of the warm tea, the flavor was soothing, a mix of chamomile and lavender, and it helped to ease some of the tension in my chest
"So," Mia began, her tone light but curious. "What's going on? You seemed a little... off when you texted me earlier."
I hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. It wasn't that I didn't want to tell Mia what was happening it was just that everything still felt so new and uncertain, but if there was anyone I could trust to understand, it was Mia
"Yeah, I've been a little all over the place lately," I admitted, setting the mug down on the coffee table. "A lot has happened... with Rebecca."
Mia raised an eyebrow, her expression a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Oh? Do tell."
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. "Well, after our date... things kind of... escalated."
Mia's eyes widened slightly, and she leaned in, clearly intrigued. "Escalated how?"
"We, um, we've gotten closer," I said, my cheeks flushing slightly. "Like... really close."
For a moment, Mia just stared at me, processing what I'd said
Then, a slow grin spread across her face. "Wait, are you telling me that you and Rebecca are... together?"
I nodded, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. "Yeah. We've been spending more time together, and we've talked about it, and... we've decided to be official."
Mia's grin widened, and she reached out to give my arm a playful nudge. "Emma! That's amazing! I knew that something will happen between you two I'm so happy for you!"
