Hao slid into the chair in front of Jaehyun. They were going to discuss some changes that had occurred over the course of Jaehyun's sick leave.
"Hey, feeling better now?" Hao started some small talk as he shuffled through his multiple files. Jaehyun mumbled some positive response and Hao nodded. "That's good."
"Leehan said the team was good with the new player." Jaehyun decided to avoid all small talk and got straight to business. "And I heard you guys held a Christmas event too. Sad I couldn't make it." he frowned.
"We missed you lots." Hao finally plopped down the massive stack of files and looked up at Jaehyun. "It was fun. And yeah, the team was just as good as when you're here. Dare I say even better," he smirked smugly, clearly tugging at Jaehyun's strings.
"Come on now." Jaehyun returned the expression, recognizing the lighthearted play. "Let's talk business. What'd you call me in for?" He then positioned himself more professionally, hands folded and all.
Hao's face was quite unreadable at the moment. He seemed to have a mixture of nervousness and excitement written across his face—Jaehyun wasn't too good at deciphering which of the two was to be dwelled upon.
"Look, you can't shoot the messenger," That's when Jaehyun knew he wouldn't like the news one bit. "I wanted them to wait til next year before enacting this."
"You're kind of edging me here," Jaehyun chuckled nervously. Hao sputtered at his vulgar joke before returning to his previous state. "What is it?"
"They've constructed a boys' volleyball team. The players are decent—if decent is the new horrible." Hao quickly covered his mouth as soon as the words left it. "Sorry! I told myself I wouldn't judge them," he whispered.
Jaehyun couldn't even focus on Hao's insult as he was too zeroed in on the fact that the soccer team was being neglected again.
"They're doing this again?" he looked down at his hands and laughed emotionlessly. Hao only gave him a sympathetic look.
The soccer team had been overlooked for as long as they'd been around. From canceling games because of important schoolwide events to not funding the necessities for gameplay, Seoul of Soccer, their team, had been disowned by the school.
"I know you must feel terrible. That's why I wanted to tell you before you found out some other way." Hao sighed, seeming to contemplate his next sentence. "And before you could act irrationally about it," he mumbled nonetheless.
Jaehyun wanted to say that it was alright. That he didn't mind, even though he very much did, and that it would be okay as long as they set their boundaries.
But he couldn't because it was not alright. He did mind and it was not okay in the slightest.
"And how long have they been funding this?" he borderline growled out.
He had to remind himself that that was Hao, not some random person. Hao was the one advocating against the team. He of all people should not have to face Jaehyun's wrath.
"Since a couple of months ago. They're going to announce the team and the members tomorrow on the bulletin board." Hao informed. "They hand-picked the members and, unfortunately, they wouldn't let them back out. Nobody was prepared for a boys' volleyball team so nobody wanted to try out when they soft-launched the idea."
"That sucks for the players. No wonder they suck ass." Jaehyun cursed under his breath. He was well aware of Hao's distaste toward cursing, but the guy said nothing and let him relish in anger anyway.
