>TRANSMISSION START

>POV SET TO: [NAME]_[LAST NAME]

It was very hard to sleep, but I did. My back is stiff though.

E.J hasn't come to pick me up yet for “work”, so I've been walking around the first floor all morning. The laptop says it's about 5:00AM.

Speaking of E.J, that thing said he was planning on killing me. I just… don't believe it. Why would he put his neck out for me if he was planning to kill me?

He took me in as an intern instead of just tracking down that monster and feeding me to it. That couldn't have been for nothing.

I have this ‘job’ now. A job that he gave me. For some reason, it feels like I have some sort of immunity. Even though I've seen it first hand, having an ‘important job’ here doesn't mean you're safe.

Cody might have been like me once. Even if the files said on the computer he wasn't infected with whatever type of drug they came up with here, it seems like the jobs here are like a revolving door.

Expect it's not as easy getting out of it alive.

I just have to pay attention to what Cody did wrong, if I do that, I might just survive this. Get back to work. Apologize for missing my brother-in-law's birthday.

Maybe they're looking for me? If they checked my house, maybe they could find his present still wrapped up. I wrapped it before I went out on my walk.

I remember being really excited about giving it to him too. There's not many days where I'm allowed off work. Now that I'm here, I doubt I'll ever have one again while I'm here.

*Knock knock Knock*

My heart hops into my throat before slowly calming. The knock sounds different than the one I had the night before.

I anxiously got out of bed and opened the door.

There stands E.J with a duffle bag under his left arm. Mask still on his face, staring at me with its hollowed out and black eyes.

“Morning. I got some food for you.” He reaches his arm inside the room and puts the duffle bag on the desk.

“It's not safe out there for you to get food from the cafeteria by yourself. People don't know about you yet, not everyone here is on the same job level as you and me, which means they don't get the same amount of information as fast.”

By the sound of it, E.J packed me a lot of stuff. I look in the bag while E.J waits patiently at the door.

Looks like a few muffins, a few small boxes of cereal, and a lot of mini water bottles.

I nod and zip the bag back up.

“Are you ready? You look ready.”

He looks me up and down.

“Looks like you found those clothes Toby was talking about. But uh… Sorry, if you want to start working here, you're gonna have to wear the uniform. For safety reasons. Go find a lab coat. You can keep it casual I guess, but if you're gonna take a bath, it would be best to get some new clothes.”

Wait, you're taking me to a place to shower?! Say less. I walk away from the door and look through the box of clothes again. I remember what E.J said about the lab coat and grab one from under the mattress. It has Cody's name tag on it.
