I took a taxi and was taken by Hyun-oh to the first floor of a small building. It was a practice room with perfect soundproofing. It was a space that I, a violin major, also had. The practice room that Hyun-oh brought us had a living space attached, but as if to indicate that the practice room was the main space, the living space was relatively small.
Judging from the trace of life that could be seen everywhere and the fact that I was suddenly invited, it seemed like he had long-term rented a private practice room that took up an entire floor. Is this what an idol practice room looks like?As I looked around, Hyun-oh came over and offered me a chair, but instead of sitting down, I put down my violin and wandered around.
The practice room had a unique feature: one wall was constructed with a mirror. The floor was also a bit different. I've never seen it myself, but I guessed that this is what a dance practice room would look like.
I too was trying to set up a recording studio in the past but I gave up, so I had a controller, mixer, digital piano, etc. thrown in the corner, feeling like it was difficult to get rid of.
On the right wall, there was a row of guitars of various brands with their strings off, and on the opposite side was a door that said "Vocal Practice Room."I looked inside through the small window on the door and it seemed to have only the most basic necessities. The amplifiers and audio were classic products, and the most striking item in this practice room was the expensive speakers. I wanted to hear the sound of this speaker.
I couldn't buy it because it was too expensive so I had another model at home. Hyun-oh asked as he loitered around in front of the speaker."Do you like that speaker? Should I play you a song? Do you have any recommendations?"
In my personal opinion, it is good to listen to songs you enjoy when checking speaker performance. This is because you can hear the difference in detail when you listen to the same song through different speakers.
I personally selected Chopin's Nocturne No. 2 and one of Hyun-oh's songs using my laptop connected to the audio system. Nocturne's melody flows through the speakers. Compared to the speakers at home, the sense of space is different, so it's hard to tell the difference, but the sound overall seems a bit more colorful. Even though the storyline and characters are the same, it feels like their personalities have become brighter. This speaker is probably more specialized for idol dance songs. If it were me, I would set it up like that."It's Semicolon, the title of our second album."
The song begins with a groovy guitar riff. As the tempo increases, a voice joins in.
I had a gut feeling about it. This is Hyunoh hyung's voice! I could tell even though the tone of voice was different when he spoke. No matter how different it was, it was still a voice from the same person.Just as I was expecting the music to build up little by little with the voices that sounded like those of other members being added one by one, EDM suddenly popped out, contrary to my expectations. As the beat gradually got faster, everyone rapped excitedly and showed off their vocal colors. The song is better than you thought, right? There was a fresh development and a coolness that blew away stress. One voice stands out among them. However, i could find signs of self-restraint to suit the other members' vocal colors.
It's natural. If one sound stands out in a group's music, it breaks the harmony.
However, I couldn't help but think that it was a shame to lose Hyun-oh's unique voice.
If only the other members had been a little more skilled. If only the producer had pushed their skills to their limits. Even if that wasn't the case...
The number of cases in which Hyun-oh could fully demonstrate his skills circulated in my head. One thing that was disappointing about the song Semicolon was the fast beat that made it difficult to bring out the lyrical lyrics. It was even more disappointing because the lyrics were so catchy that they stuck in my ears thanks to Hyun-oh hyung's clear pronunciation. It's amazing how they play this song in such an exciting way, encouraging people to continue the story of life. If you think back to the beginning riff, it could have been a soft ballad before it was arranged. It was difficult to listen to Hyun-oh hyung's sound properly. It definitely surpass my listening standards. Of course, I won't deny that my personal taste in voices is a factor in what satisfies me... .
