*** Stark Industries, New Years Eve/Day Party, 1997/8
Three years since the day Tony and Aurelia started dating and now it was New Years Eve of 1997, going into 1998, the paparazzi were there, along with workers of Stark Industries, the press just wanted to catch a glimpse of Tony Stark and whatever one night stand he had with him that night.
Aurelia Katz was staring out the window as the car pulled up outside the Disney Concert Hall, where Tony often held the Firefighters fundraiser thing, she was nervous, Tony had something up his sleeve and Rhodey and his family knew about it.
Aurelia wasn't stupid, she'd noticed the moments where Rhodey, Scarlett and Tony were whispering about something, and Tony was talking to Rhodey and Scarlett's parents, Catherine and John, who was Rhodey and Scarlett's father.
Tony stepped out the car causing an uproar, Scarlett Rhodes was only fifteen and technically shouldn't've been at the event but Tony had made an exception for his friends little sister as she and her parents were waiting for Tony and Aurelia up the stairs, Scarlett was on the phone talking to someone on facetime, Nataliya probably, Aurelia's little sister and Nataliya's friend from England (who Scarlett had also formed a friendship with), Katy James.
Tony held his hand out for Aurelia and she took it, maybe a little too tightly, because she saw Tony's wince but her grip didn't release, she'd been seen as Tony's date at several of these events and people assumed that it was because she was his Public Relations lady, while that was true it wasn't the reason.
Aurelia gave her normal paparazzi smile which was different to her real smile, she hated the spotlight, she hated being the centre of attention, Tony walked beside her for about three seconds before Aurelia was walking alone, sensing something was off, she locked eyes with Rhodey who gestured for her to turn around so she did and she didn't expect to see what she did.
Tony Stark was on one knee, proposing to her, in the middle of the red carpet, in front of the world wide press, why was she actually surprised? It was Tony fucking Stark, he was bound to do something like that eventually, it was so spontaneous, that was pretty much the man's middle name.
"I love you, Aurelia Maria Katz. You are my best friend, my rock, my partner in crime, you're always inventing things with me, and I can always count on you to have my back. We will have our differences, our bumps in the road everyone does, but I will always come back to you because you are all I have ever wanted. Aurelia Katz...will you marry me?"
Aurelia's hand was over her mouth as a tear slid down her cheek, removing her hand with her lip quivering, she nodded as she spoke. "Yes, my answer is yes." Tony stood up as camera's went off, the reporters cheered, but to Tony it was just him and Aurelia as he slipped the ring on her finger, he swept her into a kiss as she reciprocated, before hugging her tightly.
Scarlett Rhodes was jumping up and down screaming with excitement and so was Nataliya Katz who was on the other end with Katy James on the phone, Rhodey was smiling while Catherine and John were on the phone with Aurelia's parents who were with their daughter and they were watching the news at the same time.
