Everyone falls in love sometimes Sometimes it's wrong, and sometimes it's right For every win, someone must fail But there comes a point when When we exhale
"We currently have Christopher Brown, Michael Stevenson, and Barry Bradford in custody." The district attorney of Boston was heard saying through the speakers of my phone. "At this time, we are charging the three with felony murder on Sean Anderson." He continued making a loud gasp leave my lips as I watched the link to the press conference that Mari had sent me.
"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed feeling a pang of sorrow course through my body for the devastation I knew my friend was feeling right now. I briefly spoke with her on the phone yesterday evening as she had called to check in on Dominic's progress. She confided in me what she and Chris had been going through this past month. He had been taken into custody while in the hospital and had been held without bail since then. His hearing would be held in the coming weeks, and I wished that I could be there to support her through this. She sounded so broken over the phone, and it was tearing me up inside that there wasn't much I could do but make sure I checked in on her as much as I could. I was hoping that he was found not guilty so this nightmare could be over for them.
A knock on my hospital room door brought me out of my thoughts as I told whoever to come in. A smile graced my lips as I saw Daniel and Ms. Athena enter the room with In-N-Out bags in both their hands.
"You guys are spoiling me at this point." I laughed as they sat the bags down on the table by the door.
"Hi sweetheart, how are you?" Athena asked as she came to give me a big hug.
"As good as I can be with the circumstances." I admitted as she began taking food out of the bags. It had been two days since the first time I visited Dominic. I made it a priority to go see him as much as possible since then. It was always hard to see him like that, but it still put my mind just the smallest bit at ease to lay eyes on him. "Hi, Daniel." I smiled as he took a seat on the couch. He had been a shell of himself since all of this had happened. His once vibrant personality was now so reserved. I could tell he was having such a hard time with this which was completely understandable. Everyone was handling things in their own way.
"Hey, Rae. Glad you doing a little better." He said, letting a smile grace his face that didn't quite reach his eyes as he unwrapped his burger.
"I don't know what you did but since you started visiting Dominic his breathing has gotten so much better! The nurse said they think they'll be able to remove his breathing tube today!" Athena exclaimed, making my eyes widen.
"Really?" I asked in disbelief. Kasim had been telling me he could see a difference in him since I had been visiting, but I thought he was just being sweet. "Did they say what time?" I questioned, wanting to be there when they did it. That tube down his throat made me cry every time I looked at it.
