'Were in this together'
4 little words Anni had only ever heard from 3 people in her life. Now she was hearing it from someone she didn't know, that owed her nothing. Not that Magnus owed her, but this all only started because he knew Anni's dad.
He was Anni's godfather, Anni's biological father had been in the forces with Magnus. They'd been friends for years. Magnus had been at Anni's christening and her mother's funeral. He'd always been a part of her life and it was a comfort to have him around still.
Alwyn and Mark were involved for different reasons, Al was spec ops along with Magnus, vanguard sniper, he took out the nurse pinning Anni down, forcing the IV into her arm, feeding her more than enough drugs to kill a grown adult. Greg had tried to fight her first but he was dragged away while trying to stop the inhumane treatment.
Alwyn been the one to talk little Anni out from under the bed. She trusted him before anyone else because he killed the 'witch'.
Mark appeared about a year after Anni was adopted, he had smashed the office windows, Magnus and Al had chased him down, saw the potential this rebellious but talented kid had and took him in. Anni had told Al about Mark's parents abusing him.
The connection between Anni and Mark was almost instant, the used to fight each other. Mark being the rebel and Anni being the baby super soldier, they were both a force to be reckoned with, still were.
Anni snapped her eyes down towards Charli, "you realise what you're getting into? Right?"
Anni wanted to give her every opportunity to leave, to make sure she knew what she signed up for.
Charli nodded, never taking her eyes off Anni. She knew. Well, for the most part what she was in for, but this was always gonna be her choice.
Anni was quietly listening to Charli's heart beating, and her inner thoughts said that Anni was always going to be her first choice, she didn't quite know why, but it was a choice she'd make again and again.
Anni finally took Charli's hand, she held the door for the smaller girl, Mark was waiting in the hallway, he dumped a set of keys down on the desk, "Saab's sitting outside, see you back at the hotel," he said as he saluted both women.
Anni nodded at him, picked up the keys and grabbed her bag.
Smirking to himself as he headed off to meet back up with Magnus, he was glad Charli hadn't freaked and ran, he didn't know if his sister would survive that kind of emotional beating.
They headed outside, Charli eyed the sleek old car sitting outside the office, navy blue paint, looking straight out of an 80s movie.
"Nice car, I've never seen one of these before," she quipped as Anni unlocked it.
"Saab 9000, I rebuilt it a couple years ago," Anni said opening the door for Charli.
Anni was smirking at the impressed look on her face.
"What? Like actually you? Not someone else doing it for you?" Charli asked, now in shock that Anni could do that.
Charli knew next to nothing about cars. She liked to look at them tho, and this one was stunning, almost as stunning as the woman driving it.
"Yeh, me," Anni chuckled that this was what shocked Charli more than anything else.
"That's what you're shocked at? The fact I can build cars? Not the superpowers? Or the mad doctors chasing me? The fact I was kidnapped by spec ops soldiers? Nah, it's my mechanical knowledge."
Anni was shaking her head at the beauty in the passenger seat, she seemed so calm, even after hearing everything, she was impressed by Anni's skills. Anni was questioning what kind of woman she was falling for?
