The rich aroma of breakfast wafted through the house, gradually rousing Peti from his slumber. He stretched, feeling well-rested in his luxurious smart bed, and followed the enticing smells down the grand staircase. As he approached the source of the delightful scents, he found himself standing in front of an opulent kitchen, unlike anything he had ever seen.
The kitchen resembled a high-end restaurant or a castle's grand dining hall, complete with gleaming marble countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, and an array of culinary delights laid out on an expansive island. A team of five-star chefs and cooks worked diligently, preparing an extravagant breakfast spread. There were stacks of golden pancakes, crisp bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, pastries, and more-each dish looking like a work of art.
Peti stepped into the kitchen, his eyes wide with awe. The chefs noticed him and greeted him with warm smiles and nods, acknowledging their new guest.
"Good morning," Peti said, his voice a mix of excitement and nervousness. "This looks incredible."
One of the chefs, a tall man with a kind face, smiled and replied, "Good morning, Peti. We've prepared a selection of your favorites. Feel free to help yourself."
Peti took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves, and made his way to the table, which was filled with more food than he could ever imagine. He sat down at the dining table, taking in the vast array of breakfast options. Just as he started to plate his food, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
Hanako entered the kitchen with a warm smile, and beside her were Mura and Reiko. Mura's eyes lit up when she saw Peti.
"Mura, this is Peti," Hanako said gently, guiding her daughter forward. "Peti, this is Mura, our youngest."
Mura bounded over to Peti, her face beaming with excitement. "Hi, Peti! I'm so excited to finally have a normal brother. Petiko never cared about me at all."
Before Peti could respond, Mura gave him a quick, enthusiastic hug. The genuine warmth of her embrace was comforting, and Peti felt a smile tug at his lips.
Hanako then introduced Reiko, who followed more slowly. Reiko had a tired, almost disinterested look as she joined the group. "Hi, I'm Reiko," she said in a groggy, detached tone, barely looking up from the food.
She took her seat at the table, plopping down with a hint of impatience. Her mother's smile faltered slightly, but she remained cheerful. "Reiko, could you please be a bit more welcoming? It's important."
Reiko rolled her eyes and muttered, "Do I have to? I'm tired, Mom."
Hanako tried to remain positive. "Yes, it's important to make Peti feel welcome."
Reiko sighed heavily and responded with a lazy, "Hi, Peti," before grabbing a plate and beginning to serve herself. She didn't seem particularly interested in engaging further, her focus mainly on her breakfast.
Hanako's smile was warm but tinged with frustration. "I'm sorry about that, Peti. Reiko is just having a rough morning. I promise she'll warm up to you."
Peti, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the contrast between Mura's enthusiasm and Reiko's aloofness, took it in stride. "It's okay, Hanako. I understand. I'm just happy to be here and to meet you all."
Mura, noticing Reiko's lack of enthusiasm, leaned closer to Peti and whispered, "Don't mind Reiko. She's always like this in the mornings. She'll be nicer once she wakes up more."
Peti chuckled softly. "Thanks for the heads-up, Mura."
As breakfast continued, Peti enjoyed the luxurious spread, savoring each bite. Despite the initial awkwardness, he felt a sense of belonging and comfort in this new environment. The interactions with Mura and Reiko, though different in tone, were part of the new life he was beginning to embrace.
