FLUFF
(movie, request)heather duke had been acting.. weird—nobody except veronica realized—well, it couldn't be because of heather chandlers death, you'd expect her to be kind of happy about that.
veronica stared at heather chandlers locker, "KEEP OUT" written on a poster in front of it, she opened it anyway. looking at the stuff inside of it—a picture of veronica and the heathers, a red bow under a picture that said "I shop therefore I am.", some books, on top of them a mini license plate that said "HEATHER", pictures from when they went to a photobooth thingy, and so many other red things.
as she touched the strip of pictures, her eyes got covered by.. someones cold hands?
" guess who! " could be heard from behind her—she recognized that oddly cheerful voice, heather duke?
" heather?—" veronica said.
heathers hands slipped off of veronicas face as veronica turned around—heather duke was wearing heather chandlers scrunchie.
heather duke smiled, slightly biting her lip to keep her smile from growing wider as veronica reached her hand out to touch heathers scrunchie.
veronica didn't say anything, she sighed and then just walked past heather, their shoulders slightly brushing together as she walked out of the locker room.
what the hell?
heathers smile faltered a bit, she thought veronica would be at least a little happy for her—why doesn't veronica like her back? whats wrong with heather?—does veronica not see her as a friend?
her thoughts disappeared as she looked at heather chandlers locker, it was open—heathers stuff being visible for anyone to see.
without a second thought, heather duke started stuffing her pockets with some of heathers smaller things, starting with keychains.
later that day, after school, heather duke walked to veronicas house with heather mcnamara. veronica's parents were nice and let the two girls out to the yard where veronica was playing croquet with betty finn.
veronica knocked away betty finns croquet ball just as the two heathers walked to them.
" bravo, brav-o. " heather duke congratulated veronica—though her tone seemed more amused than cheerful.
betty finn glanced at the two heathers, before she looked back at veronica. " listen, i got-i gotta get home, okay? "
veronica gave a soft, genuine smile. " okay, " she said, almost too low to hear.
" thanks. " betty handed the croquet mallet back to veronica.
" bye, betty. "
heather duke stood beside heather mcnamara—heather duke looked slightly jealous, was it too obvious? god, she hopes not.
" bye! " betty walked away, passing the two heathers just as heather duke spoke.
" betty, leaving so soon? " heather duke said, her tone a mixture of both amusement and teasing.
" i'm red. "hours later, it had to be somewhat past noon, heather duke let herself into veronicas house.
