He was nice enough, you supposed.

Styled brown hair and straight teeth, with dimples on his cheeks. He kept smiling every time you said his name. His name was Kevin and he had a charming Australian accent.

"So that's why I moved to Japan," Kevin finished. He glanced up at you, offering a sweet smile. "What do you do for work?"

"I work in finances," you lied, swirling your glass of wine. "It's decent money, but it's boring."

"Accounting? Or do you do something for the city?" Kevin curiously inquired. He appeared genuinely interested, so you gave the effort of a response.

"Private banking. I can't say anything specific, because I sign a lot of non-disclosure agreements." You sipped your wine and stared out the window. It was a beautiful view of the city at night.

"Oh, that's really cool," Kevin commented. "I do photography. You ever been interested in it?"

"Not really. Cameras always seemed boring," you bluntly said.

Kevin tilted his head. Some of his hair flopped into his face before he brushed it away. "Really? I always like candid shots. When someone's smiling and it's completely natural, it's just... magical."

You flicked your eyes over his face, and the delight that was there. Your face softened into a small smile. "I'd love to see some of your work one day."

Kevin's dimples made a return as he beamed excitedly. "I'll show them to you anytime you want."

He craned his neck to the side to look for the waiter, and you caught a glimpse of ink peeking out from his collar. He had a tattoo, but you couldn't see what it was completely.

"You have a tattoo?" You set the wine glass down on the table.

Kevin's hand shot up to his neck and he adjusted his shirt's collar. "Oh that. Yeah, it's a rose. You wanna see?"

"Sure." You nodded.

The waiter arrived, smiling pleasantly. "How do you want to pay?"

You reached for your wallet, but Kevin handed over his credit card before you grabbed it.

"It's on me," Kevin told you. "No expectations. Just a thank you for a great night."

You slipped your coat on and thanked the waiter before leaving at Kevin's side. "I had a great time, Kevin. We should do this again."

"I'd like that." Kevin checked his phone. "Sunday?"

You nodded. "Sounds great."

"I have a photography studio that we could top by on our way to a movie theatre?" Kevin suggested. "If you still wanted to see my work, that is."

"Of course I do!" You curled a strand of hair around your fingers. "I can't wait!"

"Great!" Kevin awkwardly shuffled around for a moment, clearing deciding whether to try and kiss you or not. "Can I- Um, Can- Would you-"

"Sure." You shrugged.

Kevin's entire face flushed before he kissed you. It was quick and sweet, but you didn't get butterflies in your stomach.

"Wow," Kevin breathed out once he pulled back.

You hummed. "Yeah. I should get going, though. See you Sunday."

Kevin waved before jogging away, spotting the bus up ahead. Your own station was a couple blocks away, so you began walking.

It was mildly cold outside, so you were glad you'd brought a coat. You were even happier that you had worn pants instead of a skirt.
