You woke up late the next day. Sitting up, you realised you could see an alarm clock across from you. The alarm, quite clearly, wasn't set but the time was 11:30 in the morning. Usually, you would have panicked over being late for work, however... reality quickly set in. You couldn't go to work. Nor could you go outside, avoid a conversation with your annoying neighbour or have a drink at that cafe right by your workplace. No- you were stuck in a really cold cave with at least two skeletons, and other unknown monsters that wanted your head on a plate... or something like that.
You were scared; of course you were. Nothing had been explained clearly to you, despite Sans's and Ink's best attempts to do so. It was also an extremely alienating experience. How could you fit in amongst monsters? Did Sans and Ink hold you in contempt as much as other monsters did? Not that you could blame them, but the thought of powerful skeletons secretly harbouring a grudge towards you was frightening, to say the least. When you thought about it, Ink seemed the most open, but there was always a startling feeling of emptiness around him, even when he showed the most emotion of the two skeletons. Sans... he looked slightly distrusting. He was far less open than Ink, and very noncommital about seemingly everything. He also didn't seem too close with Ink, so perhaps that would play out in your favour. The less close the two were, the less likely they were to conspire against you. Or, maybe you were just far too distrusting of them...
The curtains in the living room weren't shut. Surprising- back home, you would mostly keep yours shut, especially overnight. Even in a small city like your own, creeps still existed. You figured this said something about the security of the Underground; it didn't seem like a dangerous place at all! For monsters, anyhow, if they would leave their houses so exposed. This also meant you could get a good look outside. It looked... peaceful. You had a limited view from where you sat but, outside, snow blanketed the ground as it fell from the top of the cave. Young monsters were running around, playing with each other and occasionally tripping over. In appearance, they weren't as monstrous as the word 'monster' would suggest. They were actually quite cute looking, though each very different. Some looked like birds, some looked like deer- some even looked like snowflakes. There were also those that looked as though they might be from some cartoon made for young children back on the surface, with very sweet-looking round faces and colourful stripes. It all seemed so very... human. Not primal and bloodthirsty like human stories suggested.
"heya. up already?" A voice rang out from by the staircase. It was Sans- in his blue hoodie, shorts and slippers. Did he have any other outfits?
"Good morning. I just woke up. You good?" You reply, sitting back on the sofa. Hastily, you tried to move the blanket you had been using to the side so Sans could sit down. You were a guest here, after all, and manners were important.
"yep. i'm surprised my bro didn't spot you on his way out this morning. uh, pleasantly surprised, though. he's an eager guy, might've been a bit... overzealous greeting you, y'know?" Sans spoke with an easygoing grin, sitting down on the sofa next to you, but a comfortable distance away. His demeanour was outwardly relaxed, though every time you shifted slightly, you noticed the way he carefully followed your movements. He was wary of you.
"Your bro?" You decide to ask, ignoring his suspicion. There was nothing you could do about it except prove yourself trustworthy, and you planned on doing just that.
"yeah, my brother. don't worry, he's harmless. you'll meet him later. just... be nice to him. we don't want any problems." He replied, narrowing his eyes at you.
"I didn't plan on being rude to anyone, so don't worry. So, uh..." You trail off, trying to find a lighter topic of conversation, "What's it like down here? I just had a look outside- this place seems cosy." San seemed to relax slightly as you spoke, seeming keener to talk about the Underground than make awkward small talk.
