The door slid open, and Copilot Naomi stepped inside. She was a medical doctor with a minor in biochemistry and agricultural science, specializing in Artificial Photosynthesis.
"I won't lose you on my watch, Captain. You can count on me," she said with a reassuring smile. "I was monitoring everything through the humanoid's visual detectors, tracking your movements and trajectory the whole time. But I have to admit, I really hate micrometeoroids-small space debris."
She chuckled lightly, her smile softening the tension in the room.
The next day, all crew members were required to attend a briefing on the final progress of the interstellar ship-building project, The Star Ark. The ship-building sites were located in two places: one at the Earth orbital ship-building dock, and the other on the Moon.
The eight crew members on the Moon side appeared as individual 3D holograms in the main control room, while the four crew members on the Earth side attended in person.
"As we all are aware, the Star Ark project is an unprecedented and risky bet in human history, with no guarantee of return—this is a one-way, lifetime journey into deep space. Okay then, Star Ark team, proceed with the briefing on the final ship-building progress and report status," said Park Han.
