Mr. Grayson.... "Please you've shut me out for three weeks, I'm supposed to be your apprentice but I'm barely getting to learn from you. Arlan said uncomfortably, he had finally mastered the courage to ask Mr. Grayson the most well- known scientist and his mentor, to let him in his ground-breaking discovery which was under strict secrecy. "Arlan, I've given you countless books and media you can learn from, as of now our experiment is hardly the business of a fourteen-year-old". Mr. Grayson said. If Arlan hated anything it was age discrimination. His face darkened and he held a cold glare in his eyes.
"Maybe... but you took a ten-year-old boy as your apprentice. Don't forget that" Mr. Grayson gave Arlan a blank stare as Arlan walked out of his office.
"Can you believe it? He wouldn't tell me" Arlan said clinging into his brown hair.
Tamala was doing her math homework working on factorization and trying to solve a particularly tricky question still her attention was divided between Arlan and her work.
"That leaves you with more time to do anything" Tamala said. "But I don't want to do anything, I want to know what he's doing. Arlan sighed frustratedly. He took a look at Tamala's work. "Umm.... Tala, those two numbers will not give you 5x." Tamala glared at him, "you deal with your side of the world, I'll deal with mine." Arlan rolled his eyes. He took the work from Tamala and solved it almost in an instant. Now that you're done with your homework, you want to play Minecraft?" Arlan asked.
Tamala ripped out the page Arlan had solved for her and threw it aside. "You can't keep doing this for me. I know you're like smart and all but I need to understand this on my own".
Tamala said gathering her books, Arlan sighed. "You're right. Sorry". For the record this is most boring sleepover ever who brings homework to a sleepover? "Tamala sighed pushing her books away and grabbing a pillow. "The same girl who's about to have you creamed". She said throwing the pillow at Arlan who chuckled and threw one back. They got into a full fledge pillow fight as they built fort walls and defences. Ducking and diving behind their fortes soon it was ball guns. Then balloons filled with water then they were panting and chuckling. "Arlan if he still wouldn't let you in on it. Make your own scientific breakthrough, continue with your inventions". Tamala said "Like the scan-in-write?" Arlan asked he was referring to a pen he had made that scanned your papers questions, and moved on its own searching the wik for answers and imprinting it on the paper. It was the invention that got Gilderoy Grayson interested in mentoring him. "Err. maybe an invention that doesn't involve cheating". Tamala said with sarcasm in her voice. Arlan laughed awkwardly and nodded. 'or maybe ask Maki "she suggested
"Maki what am I crazy? He and Mr Grayson aren't exactly close "Arlan stated "however it would be a good excuse to see Marilia again" he smirked Tamala rolled her eyes.

It was late afternoon Tamala was in school, "it's interesting to state that the factorization wasn't a problem for you students". Mr. Verick paused. "Most of you anyway". He added as a side note glancing at Tamala.
"Miss Aikens see me after class". Mr. Verick said. Tamala sighed annoyed. The bell rang for next period as everyone rushed out Tamala stayed back. "Yes Mr. Verick?" she asked. "Ever since Arlan left, you've let both your academic and social life plunger". Tamala sighed she was tired of this conversation. everyone seemed to think Arlan was the reason for her success or failure of everything, she had a life too and she wasn't going to let it revolve around Arlan. "I don't know what concern you have about my social life sir, but I assure you I'm good. About my Academies. Last I checked they were my Academics" Tamala said with a bit more rudeness and attitude than she anticipated. Mr. Verick sighed. "Get your grades up or get out of my class". He said firmly. Tamala groaned following the rest of the students for the next period.

"Tala I've been trying to reach you for three days, but it feels like you're ignoring me." He had caught up with her on the way home. "Maybe it's because I am ignoring you. Arlan, look... for you it comes naturally, you're a genius and I get that you're bored but please, don't call me every waking moment to hang out with you." Tamala blurted. Arlan was stunned for a few moments but nodded. "I'm sorry Tala you're right" Arlan turned to leave and Tamala starred Longley after him. He was her best friend and she hatted what she was doing to him but she knew in life it's sometimes about individual differences. It was always about the genius. the lucky one she resented herself for it and even more by the flame of jealousy that burnt within her.
